Liz asked: I got into this because of Jennifer Kesse and am trying to (efficiently) gather the pieces - do you know if there's any background on the site, like there is for Chandra Levy?
Hi Liz. Welcome. To get the background on Jennifer Kesse's disappearance, first read this thread (Jennifer Kesse, 24, missing from Orlando).
Then read Jennifer Kesse POI photo analysis links. It's an analysis of the Blowup of Jennifer Kesse person of interest / suspect thread. Bring that up and keep it up to follow that analysis. (and more surveillance photo analysis welcome!).
Then read Jennifer Kesse suspect analysis for other theories on the suspect.
Hope this helps, Liz, and please feel free to post more questions and comments in Jennifer's threads. We never know when we might put enough out there for someone to connect the dots and call the police. They and the Kesse family definitely need the public's help in finding Jennifer.

Both last posted, it appears, in February, almost four months ago. Anyone know where they've gotten to?

The CBS 48 Hours piece scheduled for this Saturday, June 14, has been postponed. It was to feature Jennifer Kesse and Tara Grinstead. Supposedly it was due to scheduling problems with the network, however, Tara's mom just passed away this past weekend, so that could have had something to do with it.
Will let everyone know new airdate as soon as I do.

Stolen Beauty
June 30, 2008
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(CBS) Former beauty queen Tara Grinstead was a beloved school teacher in Irwin County, Ga., with aspirations of becoming a high school principal, when she vanished from her home in October 2005. There were no signs of forced entry, no sign of a struggle and only her pocketbook and keys were missing.
But investigators suspected foul play when a latex glove was discovered in her front yard. Now, two and a half years later, Georgia authorities prepare to reveal new information to 48 Hours that could solve the Tara Grinstead case. And our cameras follow the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to Florida, where they explore a possible connection between this eerie disappearance and another troubling case, in Orlando.
Three months after Grinstead's disappearance, Jennifer Kesse vanished from her Orlando, Fla., home. Like Tara, Jennifer was young, beautiful and successful. And like Tara, there was no sign of forced entry, no sign of a struggle and only Jennifer's keys and purse were missing. Similarly, investigators uncovered a clue that they believe is essential to solving their case - grainy surveillance footage showing an unidentified shadowy figure, who authorities believe could be Kesse's abductor, emerging from her car.
Two women, nearly 300 miles apart, vanish without a trace and each investigation holds a clue that could be the key to cracking their case.
Correspondent Peter Van Sant reports on the case this Tuesday, July 1, at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

I watched the 48 Hours segment on Jennifer Kesse tonight. It was as disappointing as anything I've ever seen.
The audience was specificallly told that the person can't be determined if male or female, is 5'3" to 5'5" tall, and is wearing white clothes that look like a painter and is probably a construction worker. There was also an emphasis on construction workers working at her condo complex undergoing renovations and staying in empty apartments, and that Jennifer voiced concerns about them being around and staring at her.
There is not one person who saw it who wouldn't come away with the belief that the Orlando Police believe a construction worker, probably highly transient if not an illegal, abducted Jennifer at her car in her parking lot that morning and then parked her car a mile away at another apartment complex and walked away.
This is exactly the same information reported in the first few days after Jennifer disappeared, and after two and a half years and all the work I've done to show otherwise, CBS repeats it, and everyone is just as misinformed as they were from the beginning.
First and most importantly, I have identified the person as wearing the uniform and equipment of an armed bike patrol security guard. The pictures are at:
Blowup of Jennifer Kesse person of interest / suspect
http://www.justiceforchandra.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=3033
Secondly, I on my trip to the crime scene and everyone else who looked at the pictures and crime scene have estimated his height to be 5'9" to 5'11". CBS didn't show a third surveillance picture where he is partially obscured by a palm tree instead of a fencepost, and his height compared to the tree with considerations for angle of camera and distance from tree is definitely far higher than 5'3 to 5'5", into average male height range, not the Latino construction worker height the Orlando police clearly believe in.
Third, the clothes are not white. The Orlando police discovered that their blue uniforms showed up light in their tests in this night vision surveillance camera, they were quoted as saying so in the press, but still reporters are clueless when they report on this, and report the clothes as white like painters pants and a tshirt. Absolutely clueless.
I have offered to purchase the same model camera and conduct tests in Orlando to determine how color of clothes and other factors of the images are rendered if I could get the camera make and model and settings the apartment complex was using at the time, but there has not been enough interest to even get that bit of information.
Lastly, I have found the person's face in the third surveillance picture, the one conveniently not mentioned by CBS 48 Hours, as he looks back across the pool at Jennifer's car he just parked and walked away from. Showing his face to the public however would require doing something beyond parroting the standard line from the Orlando Police in the first few days of her disappearance and unchanging since.
I understand people being clueless in the beginning, but after I show them what they didn't see in the pictures, they no longer have an excuse.
Jennifer and missing women deserve better than that.

It really is, jane. We're in an area where they are hoping that someone sees this in another country and hope that someone will inform on the illegal immigrant who fled the country after the murder.
It is truly sad that we're at that level after two and a half years.
