Dayton is not a fit here. FBI wouldn't need to show a picture of Dayton to Flaminni, I'm sure the two have met. Secondly, while Dayton does currently work for Homeland Security (scary thought), he didn't back in 2001 and he wasn't known to throw parties for Congressmen. Many other reasons that this info doesn't point toward Dayton.

This would have to be a man who was in the position of a freelance or subcontractor for the DoD. He would throw the parties to secure favor and therefore business. Maybe a little leverage in the form of blackmail as well?

The comment about he was connected (early?) to Condit narrows the list. The first or second attorney? Thornton? Or was it someone even before them?

James, I moved the one post. Let me know if you don't see it.

This is the same as Luray. Rita reported on Luray, no one else would touch it. It never did make the press until Anne Marie filed an affadavit and then finally Cox Newspapers included a quote from it that mentioned the Luray entry in the affadavit. And that's it to this day. Only Anne Marie talking on Larry King Live is there any detail on it.

This may be the same. This includes every media of every persuasion.

This is just very interesting. Notice that the FBI investigation was thwarted with a leak when the spy was cooperating and leading the FBI to Israeli contacts. The next day the FBI's investigation into connections between Condit and someone in the DoD hosting sex parties for Congressmen was leaked. Same leaker? It's headlines with plenty of information provided on background, so seems to be authorized leaks, so some goal is attempting to be reached here. What, I don't know.

Israeli Held Meetings With U.S. Analyst
Associated Press
Monday, August 30, 2004

JERUSALEM — A senior Israeli diplomat in Washington has met with a Pentagon analyst being investigated by the FBI on suspicion he passed classified information to Israel, Israeli officials confirmed Monday.

The officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the meetings were well within the norm of diplomacy and that no laws were broken. Israel has flatly denied it has a spy at the Pentagon.

The Israeli diplomat was identified as Naor Gilon (search ), head of the political department at the Israeli Embassy in Washington, and a specialist on Iran's nuclear weapons program.

U.S. officials say the FBI investigation focuses on Lawrence A. Franklin (search), an analyst of Iranian affairs who works in a Pentagon policy office headed by Douglas J. Feith (search ), the undersecretary for policy. Feith has been accused by Democrats of seeking to manipulate intelligence to help make the case for going to war in Iraq. Congressional investigations have found no evidence of that.

The Israeli daily Maariv on Monday quoted Gilon as saying that he did nothing wrong. "My hands are clean. I have nothing to hide. I acted according to the regulations," Gilon said.

The diplomat told Maariv he was concerned that as a result of the reports, he won't be able to continue working in Washington. "Now, people will be scared to talk to me," the newspaper quoted him as saying.

Newsweek magazine reported in this week's edition that more than a year ago, the FBI was monitoring a meeting between an Israeli Embassy official and a representative of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (search ), the main Israeli lobbying group in Washington. At one point, Franklin joined the two, according to Newsweek.

Newsweek did not identify the Israel diplomat, but Israeli media said it apparently was Gilon. Israeli officials said Gilon has met repeatedly with Franklin.

Newsweek, citing U.S. intelligence officials, said that Franklin on one occasion allegedly tried to hand over a classified U.S. policy document on Iran, but that the Israeli diplomat refused to take it.

Maariv quoted Israeli sources as saying that Gilon did not take documents from Franklin, but had frequent meetings with him.

Israel's Foreign Ministry declined comment. The Israeli ambassador to the United States, Danny Ayalon, told Maariv that Gilon went by the book, and that "nothing was done under the table."

The New York Times reported on its Monday edition that government officials say Franklin had been cooperating with federal agents for several weeks and was preparing to lead them to contacts inside the Israeli government when work of the investigation, first reported by CBS News, was leaked late last week. Efforts to reach Franklin by telephone have been unsuccessful.

On Sunday, Israeli Cabinet minister Natan Sharansky said he believed the allegations might stem from an internal conflict between the Pentagon and the CIA.

"I hope it's all a mistake or misunderstanding of some kind, maybe a rivalry between different bodies," Sharansky told Canadian Broadcasting Corp., singling out "the Pentagon and the CIA."

American officials said the FBI has spent more than a year investigating whether a Pentagon analyst funneled classified material to Israel.

The material described White House policy toward Iran. Israel says Iran — and its nuclear ambitions — pose the greatest single threat to the Jewish state.

Sharansky said the ban on espionage in the United States dates to the scandal over Jonathan Pollard, an American Jew caught spying for Israel in 1985. "There are absolutely no attempts to involve any member of the Jewish community and any general American citizens to spy for Israel against the United States," he said.

Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's office issued a denial late Saturday, saying "Israel does not engage in intelligence activities in the U.S."

Here's a list of lobbyists from Maryland who work with the Defense Department. This is not necessarily all of the lobbyists from Maryland that have worked with the Defense Department...But like the old joke says, its a good start...I'm trying to find a way to post the picture of Condit, a beautiful blond woman and a 40-something guy that was taken in the Summer of 2001 at the 'gold cup' Horse Race in Virginia. The designation for that picture is gold08.jpg and it is no longer available on the net. I just put it up on Sony Image Station... The name for that is "Pineapple1952" . I'm not sure how you can get to it but if you look up Sony Image Station and key in Pineapple1952 it will be the only picture on that site.

If you try the following url it might bring the picture up. Please post it if you can:

Here's the list- I hope one of these guys matches the goldcup fellow.

Hey, fallout, are you thinking what I'm thinking? That CCs' trip to the "Doctor" in Maryland, during her May trip to DC, was really a visit to this contractor?? Then we had GC's doctor visit on May 1. Was that a second meeting?? Did any reporter ever confirm GC's doctor visit that day??

Do you think this "contractor" is also connected to horse racing??

The Racing Club in Maryland is Pimlico, owned by Magna. The new track, currently under construction, is Laurel Park. Years ago, back in the 90's, I worked for Thistledown Racing Club in the accounting department. It was owned by the DeBartolo family at the time, but was sold to Magna- a giant corporation out of Canada. Magna owns numerous racing clubs including Santa Anita, where one of your key characters (in your Prince story) is connected. More on that later. Dots are connecting here....

I loved watching the horses run every morning. Best part of the day for me.

Back to the "contractor". Maybe we can find someone on this list:

http://encyclopedia.thefreedictionary.com/List%20of%20US%20defense%20contractors

Another lobby to look at is the Maryland Breeders or Racing Clubs. I have the link but it appears to either be dead or just really slow.

Am I on the same wavelength here???

Hi skipper - one of Magna's big centres is located close to where I live. It looks something like the Canadian Parliament buildings - very impressive architecture & grounds. The last budget from the provincial Conservative goverment was PRESENTED AT MAGNA rather than in parliament. I thought that was absolutely disgusting! The daughter of Magna's owner is an MPP (member of provincial parliament) and is friends with Clinton (Bill).

I quit Thistledown largely because of the daily tragedy that I witnessed at the place. What I handled, mostly, was the Simulcast Stats. Each day, the "purses" were divided up and checks cut for the various tracks.

Simulcast is the live via TV horse racing. Off-track sites are used to accomodate racing "fans" around the world. I notice that Maryland wants more of these off site "wagering rooms". Perhaps the "contractor" is a part of the lobby for that purpose??

Magna's "very impressive architecture & grounds" is built, to a great extent, upon the loss of many people who are addicted to gambling and have lost everything to the tracks.

A man at the track, who kept hitting on me, told me his story. He had owned a beautiful farm in the burbs of Cleveland. Had a wonderful wife, kids, the whole nine. He was a carpenter who is also involved in antiques. He refinishes old furniture for collectors. A true craftsman.

In any case, he said he started betting on the ponies. Small change at first. The habit grew and before long he lost everything, including the family. He lives in the huge basement at Thistledown. Has a room just for his furniture projects. Someone (big boy) at the track had pity on him and allows him to work his business out of the track, while working as jack of all trades for Thistledown during the day.

He told me that years before, someone got upset about all the track workers betting on the horses (and the subsequent sad stories). They tried a prohibition period where track employees were forbidden to bet. The take (for the Thistledown location) plummeted to less than 1/2 on the first day. Needless to say, that idea went out the window, post haste.

There are other stories that are far happier. Long time track workers who have family members with companies that have thrived through their affiliation with the track. One such man, I won't name him, had a granddaughter. She made local headlines about 7 years back for killing her newborn baby. I think she's still in the appeal process. She was convicted, obviously. Reminds me of the Biblical admonition about the sins of the fathers....

The head honcho of Magna was hit with a sexual harrassment suit (persisting in asking out an employee) a couple of years ago - I don't know what the outcome was.

I'm sure the story was already swept under the rug. Probably along with the woman, Jane.

The track was an interesting experience in my life and I'm glad that I worked there, but I'd never want to go back. Lot's of perks. Free food (good food), free Box Seats for any race for friends and family, and lots more. The only time I ever bet on a race was during the Triple Crown. The Kentucky Derby, the Preakness Stakes and the Belmont Stakes. It's exciting. I didn't win- asked jockeys and other workers at the track for tips (DUH), but my friend's grandfather did. We bought his tickets too. Should have gone with his horses. Life was exciting during the day when there were races. Hard to concentrate on number crunching though.

Fallout, I learned that William Rickman owns horses. See link:

The other man, as you point out, is a lobbyist. Here's a few snippets about him:

http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/local/bal-ar.bingo02dec02,0,6158035.story?coll=bal-l

Excerpts:

'Competitive world'

"It's a different competitive world," Wayson said. "You've got to have more tools, you've got to be more flexible, and you've got to be able to move quickly

SNIP

***
Excerpt:

U.S. Rep. Albert R. Wynn (D-Dist. 4) of Mitchellville continues to advocate for a casino at National Harbor in southern Prince George's County along the Potomac River.

The casino lobbyist list is also growing, with Edward O. Wayson, whose clients include Wynn Resorts of Las Vegas, shopping a 65-page proposal that would put full-scale casinos in Baltimore city, Prince George's and Western Maryland. In all, Wayson's plan would include the new facilities, but also would allow the existing racetracks to be morphed into casinos.

The (Baltimore) Sun reported this week that Ameristar Casinos -- which has casinos in Nevada, Missouri, Iowa and Mississippi -- is scouting sites in Baltimore for a casino.

The casino gold rush comes as the horseracing industry continuing to warn that it will die without slots. Officials from Canada-based Magna Entertainment Corp., the majority owner of Laurel and Pimlico racetracks, both of which would get slots under plans supported by Miller and Ehrlich, said this week that Maryland may lose the famed Preakness without slots.

Wow this is fantastic information, however I can't follow it as I do not know who the players are. Who was the spy who was was arrested in May 2001 just after Chandra went missing?

Where were the alleged prints found?
At the scene in Rock Creek Park, on what were they found?

rd, the timing of this information is certainly suspect????!!

So do we think this DOD chap was Condit's fix it guy? Hopefully the other papers will pick up on this story tomorrow.

Thanks fallout for the news, wow there is no lack of excitement in New York at the moment. Reminds me of the protests in the late sixties, seventies!

I didn't post all the connections, so it may be hard for you to follow, but basically, information on one "leg" seems to point to a Saudi connection to the "contractor".

I may put a chart together later.

Thinking back, I recall articles (NE??) about rich Arabs having parties at private homes in the Rock Creek vicinity. Could be they had parties in numerous locations. Too bad the WC board is gone. Lots of info on that board.

Didn't someone mention that the "contractor" had Michigan connections also? I read or heard that somewhere and now I can't find the source. If TV news, that would explain why I can't find anything in print.
