Excerpt from "Authors discuss 'Finding Chandra'", Scott Higham and Sari Horwitz, Washington Post, Friday, May 7, 2010
....Scott Higham and Sari Horwitz: Last we heard, Gary Condit was living in Arizona and splitting his time between California and Colorado....

Do you think Colorado is a typo (for Arizona)?

Higham and Horwitz make the following apparently contractory statements in answer to two questions:
....We also write about how unidentified male DNA was found on Chandra Levy's leggings in Rock Creek Park. It has not been linked to either former Congressman Gary Condit or Guandique....

....There is no evidence beyond Guandique's statement that others were involved.

jane, while I found this Q&A a little less biased than their previous reporting, keeping in mind that they are trying to frame Guandique goes a long way in explaining their emphasis.

They mention an unidentified male DNA found on leggings, they don't mention that the bra was DNA contaminated by a lab technician and that prosecution refused to make available DNA of people involved in handling the evidence to determine whose DNA it is.

The implication these Washington Post reporters are making is that the unknown DNA was from one of those ghostly Guandique gang members who held Chandra down while Guandique raped and murdered her, then were also killed by Guandique, never seen or heard of before or since.

At least that's one of the many "cellmate confession" versions of it that these Washington Post reporters and DC police and prosecutors get off on.

They also list that the "new" DC police investigators visited Guandique in jail and took a DNA sample as if that act alone was incriminating, and completely leave out that Guandique was investigated for this seven years earlier and passed a lie detector test, something their golden boy Congressman Condit refused to do, probably for the same reason that the "cellmate confession" accuser seven years earlier failed his lie detector test while Guandique passed his denying he had anything to do with Chandra.

The Washington Post reporters continue to ignore this by citing in their timeline that a "cellmate confession" accuser says Guandique referred to an "Italian looking" girl in prison as if he didn't know Chandra's name, even though Guandique had been questioned and given a lie detector test about Chandra Levy.

But other than carrying water for the DC prosecution in trying to convict Guandique in the press with out of context cellmate confession statements, not pointing out that everyone of them is seriously deluded, such as saying that Guandique was determined not to let this one get away even though Chandra's disappearance was before the other Guandique assaults, the Q&A was fairly factual and evenhanded.

They have a lot to work on though.

jane, you know I can't make up stuff this good. No, that's not a typo. According to the LA Times, Cadee is in Colorado Springs and has a massage therapy business.

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/politicalmuscle/2006/11/gary_condit_and.html

And I see from interviews she still calls him Gary. Maybe she's teaching Gary something about massage, or vice versa, I don't know.

And Chad Condit is said to have an Arizona firm GC Farms and Excavation, I kid you not.

Hi rd! Yes, I had a look at "Political Muscle", Robert Saladay Blogs the Governor and Capitol Politics, November 20, 2006, "Gary Condit, Children in Court" where it says (among other things)
....Where are they now? Cadee is running a massage therapy business in the Pine Creek Village Shopping Center in Colorado Springs. According to the Colorado Springs Business Journal, Cadee "deals in the healing power of touch" and employs 35. Chad Condit, the Sacramento Bee reports, lives in Arizona and started GC Farms and Excavation Inc., which the company declared "would be in the business of horse, bulls, rodeo training, land development." The newspaper said the Condits "avoid the press, and frankly loathe reporters."

    I don't blame them.

Looks like Gary might be able to use his old leather chaps for his son's business (and possibly Cadee's - I hope not!)

Excerpt from book by Higham & Horwitz:
....At about 9 A.M., Palmer parked his truck at the top of a hill near the horse corral of Rock Creek Park. He decided to walk near the Western Ridge Trail, which he hadn't been on for nearly five years. He noticed with disgust several beer bottles amid the thorny vines, patches of poison ivy, and mountain laurel that covered the forest floor. As he and Paco trudged farther into the woods, off the trail and down the ravine, he spotted a piece of red clothing. He kept walking and a few moments later came to a shallow depression in the ground. The remote spot was less than one hundred yards down the steep hillside from the top of the trail. He could hear the cars along Broad Branch Road another hundred yards below him.

At first Palmer thought that the bleached-out object he spotted was a turtle shell beneath the leaves. He bent down and swept the leaves aside. Then he abruptly stood up and backed away. He marked the spot with Paco's blue leash, and his dog bounded after him as he scrambled down the hillside toward Broad Branch Road. At the bottom, Palmer hung his sweatshirt over another branch so he could find his way back up. He crossed the creek bed, clambered up the other side, and went to the first house he saw. He knocked on the door. No answer. He went next door to a house that was being renovated and asked a construction worker if he could borrow his phone to call 911. As Palmer waited for the police, his mind raced, the tranquility of the morning shattered by what he had seen: molars, missing front teeth, dental fillings, a human skull....

There are lots of new details about the man discovering Chandra's remains in the excerpt above. Isn't this the first time we're being told he approached the recovery site from above? After discovering the remains, he went below to report them, and I guess that is why it was assumed he approached from below in the first place?

They said that in the Washington Post series, jane. I had to go find the source of walking along Broad Branch and post it. It was Michael Doyle's reporting.

yeah, they seemed very hush hush at the time and I think misled reporters or didn't give them much info. The Washington Post only reported he strayed from a path without indicating anything about path and direction.

I see that they have elaborated the bone hunter replacing turtle hunter to he thought the skull was a turtle shell, hence of course that explains everything.

Actually in original reporting the dog was supposed to be sniffing at a turtle, but when he cleared away some leaves he found the skull and skedaddled for help. Nothing about thinking it was a turtle shell.

Also, Washington Post reporters say that he hadn't been in that section of the park for five years despite being said to roam the park every day for years searching for bones, so I think that says something about how remote where Chandra was supposed to be jogging right there.

Yes. He parked his truck above the recovery site and walked (hiked) down - Guandique did not have a vehicle.

I'm reading various newspaper book reviews and Amazon reviews. Finding Chandra is selling well. And good reviews. That's good. The more exposure to information about Chandra, the better, although this site is probably only reliable source of all the information about Chandra's case on the net anymore.

The intended DC political brainwashing is having its effect though, something that will be hard to overcome, which of course is the whole point.

Over and over, people who know nothing about Chandra's life and death repeat the DC mantra:

- Condit had nothing to do with Chandra's murder.

- Washington Post reporters found Guandique years later in prison and proved he should be charged with her murder, having languished because of the DC police fixation on Condit.

This completely disregards that Guandique was investigated for Chandra's disappearance, was questioned, was given a lie dtector test, and passed, while his cellmate accuser saying Guandique had confessed to murdering Chandra with a knife failed the very same lie detector test.

Also, as I have documented in detail in Murder on a Horse Trail, it was only the press that was fixated on Condit. The DC police questioned him four times in four months, spending maybe four hours with him, the whole time DC constituents screaming about even doing that as they die in their desolate hellhole with self-inflicted misery.

Granted, they have much to scream about. But don't tell us the DC police spent any appreciable time investigating Congressman Condit, because they didn't. They did everything they could to clear him and move on despite his changing his story everytime they talked to him, despite his refusal to take their lie detector test, you know, like the one Guandique passed, and despite calls from several former Condit mistresses urging them to investigate the man they knew all too well.

This despite a far better circumstantial case can be made against Condit than Guandique.

In fact, you virtually have to make Condit's original claim to DC police that Chandra was an obsessed, essentially crazy and suicidal constituent who was bombarding him with phone calls he refused to answer, to make the circumstantial case against Guandique. That's the only way you can place a woman who never jogged, who was extremely security conscious, an FBI applicant who minored in criminal justice in college and had worked for the Modesto Police, and who was constantly monitoring her answering machine for calls from Condit just before she disappeared, in a place not one of these people who talk about her would do themselves with nothing, not even a cell phone to continue checking for that message from Condit.

In fact, sort of like she had got it. Funny that. And him leaving VP Cheney's office and disappearing himself at the same time she did.

Yes, they must destroy Chandra to give her justice. And they do so with no regard to her life, memory, and proven traits whatsoever. Whatever it takes to place her in a remote forest with nothing whatsoever on her own instead of being dumped there by someone who had motive, opportunity, and means, and no alibi.

Simply explained away as was a nice day.

So it is a complete lie from these Washington Post reporters that the DC police were fixated on Condit, but they repeat it at every chance and the mantra is repeated by those who know nothing, but really should get a second source for their opinion.

Chandra's case will not be closed for lack of knowledge of the truth as long as this site is still around.

Apparently Mr. and Mrs. Levy are satisfied that Guandique is the perp.

Hi Rich! Thanks for the link. Apparently Chandra's father does accept that Guandique is the killer.

I could not believe that Scott Higham was ignorant enough to imply that Chandra's apartment - and her computer - was searched within the first 24 to 48 hours of her disappearance. He said within that timeframe of the investigation, which is technically correct - but the investigation did not commence until many days after her disappearance (by which time the relevant lobby video tape had been lost etc.)

When one is familiar with the case many of the statements made in that video lose much of their impact imo.

as is true for the entire prosecution. Anyone that knows about Chandra knows that she was consumed with Condit, right up till the minute she disappeared, as evidenced by her phone and computer records, and that the only way the electronic records would stop is if she were with him. Any knowledge of Condit's whereabouts stop at the same time, not to resume till that evening.

They would also know that she didn't jog, was wearing a sports bra and heavy sweatshirt entirely unsuitable for running in public in 82 degree weather, Victoria's Secret panties more suitable for a rendevous with Condit, no id as she told her parents her government boyfriend forbid her to carry, no cellphone, no spray protection as her father knows full well he preached to her to carry and she preached to other women to carry, and ignoring looking up Rock Creek Park in the midst of hours of searches on Gary Condit that morning as being related to Condit, with her body dumped there from Condit's car instead of a dangerous journey to a remote forest not one of these people would do themselves if a vulnerable woman.

So the Levys should know that Chandra wasn't there of her own accord, and her body was dumped and hidden there by her murderer instead, but they probably also have to accept that the government is trying to protect Congress from having one of their own being convicted of murder and assisted in avoiding and delaying investigation with assent of Congressional leaders.

So in the big scheme of things, you get out of the way or you get crushed. The steamroller juggernaut of the DC establishment offers rewards for fantasies to convict an illegal, and cares nothing about the truth of one of their own.

Mr. Rich,

Thanks for the clip. I don't know how the Levy's feel about Guandique's guilt, and you don't either.

This clip was a typically engineered bit of out-of-context dialogue. It would have been useful to hear the full question and full response. If the question had been proceeded by "If it does turn out Guandique killed Chandra Levy..." how big an effect would that have on your conclusion?

I'm not trying to be contentious, just careful, as I always try to be when watching CNN or any of the other news programs.

Today on the news how many times do you hear a statement begin with "We both Know", "As you Know", "As Everyone Knows", and then follow it with something you do not know and in fact don't believe is true. There is no news anymore.

I apologize for the rant.

John

Hi sigsky. After I posted above, I thought about that, too - that CNN showed only an edited version of the earlier interview with the Levys. Good point.
