Susan Levy said Chandra liked to point out that each of us makes a difference.
I know that the trial, despite its travesty of a verdict, has made a difference.
Most of us here, I think, believe the government never intended to have a trial, but thought they could close this gaping wound of a case with a quick, quiet plea deal.
That would have been really bad, because the truly guilty could breathe free, with nothing more having been learned by the media, the public, by us here, about the details.
But that didn't happen. Guandique had a defense team who believed in his innocence with relation to Chandra's disappearance and murder. And they did yeoman work representing him.
The case went to trial, some in the media made an effort to inform the public as well as they could, given the limits imposed by the judge, such as no access to transcripts.
We have gleaned a few new tidbits of information, and more may come out in the next few days as journalists churn out a few more articles. If the transcript is ever made available - hey -
To many the trial is valid and fair and correctly points the finger of guilt at Guandique. But to the more concerned and discerning, it opens the case wider and proves that more needs to be done to reveal who is responsible for Chandra's disappearance and death.
The trial did make a difference. _________________ "There is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known."

Indeed, the trial made a huge difference. We would have preferred these new disturb ung revelations about what the DC police found in Chandra's apartment were accompanied by a verdict of Not Guilty.
The fact that it wasn't shows that they did not understand at all.
The problem is it doesn't make a difference to those that don't know what difference it made.
