From my visit to RCP, I know there are a couple of fairly substantial parking areas convenient to the paved jogging paths where the two women were attacked. When I was there, the lot I used had at least 2 dozen cars parked but not a single soul in sight. I expect many joggers arrive by car. However, the affidavit to Guandique's arrest warrant seems to imply that the two attacked women entered the park on foot.

I hope I'm not annoying with all these links I post, but above is another with a little different perspective on the Robert Levy testimony. I don't think this conviction is a slam dunk, but then again I thought OJ's original trial was.

From the article linked above: "....The police officer who oversaw the investigation for the first thirty days also testified. He said that Condit, with whom Levy was romantically linked, was uncooperative from the very start of the investigation -- a factor that led investigators to focus on him...."

I also think they should ask questions like the following if they could ascertain the answers:

Did Chandra have running attire specific to running? (Folks that can run 16 miles round trip are serious runners).

Did Chandra ever train for a 10k race or a 10 mile race? Did she ever talk about it?

How often does a non-runner or a low mileage runner suddenly go out (with a sweatshirt no less) and plan to do a 16 mile run?

Did Chandra ever talk to her aunt about any 10+ mile walk she completed?

How you get that line of questioning across I am not sure. But it is just crazy to think how this person who rarely ran who go out for a long, long walk or a long, long run.

Thank you, Sigsky. this article does give some additional insight. I would like to know the name of the D.C. policeman that testified.

It really is. And even crazier that she was running from Dupont Circle up to Beach Drive and on up the horse trail into a forest.

But these DC police and prosecutors don't even care that she never jogged outdoors, wasn't a runner, was wearing her usual casual attire including a heavy USC sweatshirt.

When convenient, they say she was out for a walk on a beautiful day. A walk not one of the females in the police, prosecution, or reporting has ever attempted in re-enacting what the DC prosecutors claim she did to be at Rock Creek park to be murdered.

And then when the fact that she had nothing with her but her walkman and keys to her apartment, it changes temporarily to she was running.

They basically don't care about facts, truth, justice, or anything that makes sense. They're US prosecutors, and I guess from the affadavit they feel they can say and do anything they want that defies belief.

Of course the tough thing about questioning Robert Levy is not to alienate the jury. He is the grieving father. I don't know how you would do this but I assume the defense has consultants to advise on this. Or do they?

So, naturally the prosecution hasn't called the homicide detective who was in contact with potential witness(es) from near the time of the disappearance until 4-5 years later when he retired--the detective that asked how much one of the other people in a Chandra sighting in front of a c/d--cassette tape store in Adams Morgan near the time of the disappearace resembled another man, not Guandique

--the same detective who said that Guandique was excluded as a suspect.

It seems to me that various parties involved in the investigation into the disappearance of Chandra were often trying to suck her parents into taking their side in the investigation. In my mind, that is unethical.

There is a bit in an article from International Business Times about what happened to the laptop:
....Wyatt also recalled that soon after Levy was reported missing, he went to her apartment but found no evidence of foul play.

Wyatt said he saw her laptop computer switched on and browsed it to see what sites she had recently visited. Then he turned it off to get a search warrant.

But when he returned the next day, the laptop powered up, but nothing was there. "The operating system was obliterated," Wyatt said....

Obliterated and swept clean of fingerprints, like her apartment. I didn't know that Guandique was a computer and fingerprint expert!

Did he erase the security tape, as well?

Rainbow - I just noticed it says he saw her computer switched on - again, it doesn't sound as though she planned to be away for more than a few minutes, does it?

Also from the IBT article:
....Dr. Levy also testified that his daughter would never take on risks and rarely went out jogging alone. Rather she preferred to work out at the gym. Levy also had a pepper spray but Dr. Levy said he wasn't sure whether she carried it with her all the time....
