We have here a young strong golfer who dies-- let us hope this time there is a a cause and nothing that leads us to believe it is murder. I did read some have their doubts it was from natural causes.

No information as of today to the death of the young golfer. She lived alone and a male golfer phoned the police after she died. That is all the information we have. Her father thought she killed herself but the father stated she was happy and looked forward to golfing. LE is still investigating her death.

No cause of death has been disclosed and it's not immediately clear if foul play was involved, said Henderson Police Department spokesman Keith Paul.

Blasberg's father, Mel, had told the Riverside Press-Enterprise in California that his daughter may have committed suicide. But in an interview with FoxNews.com on Tuesday, he said the circumstances surrounding his daughter's death "don't add up."

Blasberg, of Corona, Calif., said his daughter, who had just returned from the Tres Marias Championship in Morelia, Mexico, was in high spirits in recent weeks.

"It doesn't add up, knowing how excited she was about playing," he said. "She was at the prime of her life and in a career she loved."

Blasberg lived alone in her home, which she purchased three years ago. Her father said authorities told him that the 911 call was made by a local male golfer; the police have not released the caller's identity.

Blasberg said his daughter had been planning to travel to Alabama on Saturday to compete in Monday's qualifying event for this week's LPGA tournament in Mobile. He said he last saw Erica on Thursday, when he visited her home, and that "she couldn't have been more up." Her bags were packed inside her car, he said.

I have not seen much news in regard to this story. May be she did kill herself or we would have heard something. I just was wondering what did occur and didn't want to leave this story open. (it still is really) I will post the last article I found.
If she took her life, it is very sad she had too and for those left behind wondering.

[/b]Erica Blasberg was found dead on May 9 at her home just outside Las Vegas.

The up-and-coming LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) golfer was 25.

Since then, the investigation surrounding her death has proven difficult.

Her father, Mel Blasberg, would like some closure, and to celebrate the life Erica had.

Little is known about the circumstances that led to Erica's sudden death, but her bags had been packed for a tournament in Alabama before she died. Police haven't ruled out foul play, but also haven't ruled out suicide.

The investigation, says Smith, was quickly directed at a Dr. Thomas Hess, who had spoken to the golfer the night before her death, visited her home the next day, and was the one to dial 9-1-1.

Among many unanswered questions in Erica's case, one in particular Blasberg points to is why it's taken so long to establish a cause of death.

He's requested that a forensic psychologist be brought in, and doesn't want investigators to rule Erica's death a suicide without taking into account her state of mind, any drugs that were in her system and, most importantly, her relationship with Hess.

Golfer Erica Blasberg's Death Ruled a Suicide
CBS News

The Clark County coroner's office ruled Tuesday that 25-year-old professional golfer Erica Blasberg's death was a suicide.

Blasberg died May 9 at her home in Henderson, about 15 miles southeast of the Las Vegas Strip. She was found with a plastic bag secured over her head.

Henderson police said that while no foul play is suspected they have issued a misdemeanor arrest warrant for Dr. Thomas Hess on obstruction charges. Police said Hess, who discovered Blasberg's body, removed items from the scene, including a suicide note.

The contents of the note haven't been disclosed.

Hess turned himself into authorities, was booked into jail and released about 35 minutes after posting $637 in bail Tuesday afternoon, Henderson police spokesman Keith Paul said.

David Mincavage, an assistant city attorney in Henderson, said the nonviolent misdemeanor charges against Hess carry a maximum penalty of a $1,000 fine and six months in jail.

Mincavage said he could not comment further on the case, and Paul declined to say whether additional charges were possible.

The coroner's office said Blasberg died of suicide due to asphyxia, coupled with the presence of toxic levels of prescription medication in her system, including prescription headache, cough, pain and anti-anxiety medications.

The drugs in Blasberg's system included butalbital, temazepam, alprazolam, codeine, hydrocodone, and tramadol, according to the coroner, but Nevada law doesn't permit the release of details on the amounts of medication.

"While asphyxia was the primary cause of death, the presence of prescription drugs in Ms. Blasberg's system was a significant factor," Coroner Michael Murphy said.
