"Josh's unusual lack of cooperation for a husband looking for his wife with the police department, you know, it certainly causes us to ask questions as to why would he do things to exclude the resources that we can bring to the table to find Susan," Black said.

Josh Powell said he went camping with their boys, ages 2 and 4, in subfreezing temperatures about 12:30 a.m. on Dec. 7 and returned in the evening.

But Josh Powell has been uncooperative in providing any details that might explain what happened to his wife, Black said.

Among other things, Josh Powell hasn't specified where he went camping or where he was all day on Dec. 7, he said

This sinks Josh's ship. We see this with most of the silent ex's. - the same behavior when they hinder the Police Investigation. One thing we can say about this guy though, he gave the worst alibi.

I think it's a British term, kind of slang, meaning that the person is a louse, rotten to the core, etc.

Happy Holidays to you.

PUYALLUP, Wash. — Police searched the home of a missing Utah mother on Thursday as family members held a tearful news conference in which they expressed their sadness that the husband has been named a person of interest in the investigation.

Susan Powell, a 28-year-old mother of two young children, was reported missing Dec. 7 when she didn't show up for her stockbroker job at a bank. She was last seen a day earlier.

Her husband, Josh Powell, said he went camping with the couple's boys, ages 2 and 4, in subfreezing temperatures in the middle of the night Dec. 7 and returned in the evening.

West Valley City Police Capt. Tom McLachlan on Thursday said the 4-year-old boy was interviewed within "a day or two" after his mother was reported missing. The son told police his family went camping — an event his father has said coincided with her disappearance.

"I think the verification of the camping trip is important to the timeline on this," McLachlan said, cautioning against placing too much importance on the child's statement.

Meanwhile Thursday, Susan Powell's family members held a news conference in Washington state, where her parents live.

Investigators searched the Powell home for a second time in nine days Thursday, but would not disclose what was taken. Police have also searched Josh Powell's van.

Court records show that the family filed for bankruptcy in 2007, but Gifford declined to talk about the couple's financial history. She characterized their marriage as normal, with ups and downs.

McLachlan declined to comment on whether police had obtained a notebook or journal from Susan Powell's office, which reportedly detailed an alleged threat made by her husband about a year ago. Cox said police found a wet spot in the home being dried by two fans, but police have declined to comment on that.

I guess the police are being overly cautious in talking about a verification of a camping trip, as if it really were a camping trip.

He could have disposed of Susan's body during those many hours driving around the desert or he could have disposed of her closer to home before he even woke the kids up at 12:30 am Sunday night.

Either way the area to search is vast, by design, so yes, of course there was a camping trip.

The silent ex left Utah with his two young boys, ages 2 and 4, to go visit his father in Puyallup, Washington. He left without telling local police looking for his missing wife.

It started out like Hans Reiser but has evolved into Scott Peterson. Peterson was trying to get across the Mexican border from his parent's home in San Diego. Powell may be planning a dash across the Canadian border from his parent's home so that he can't face the death penalty to be brought back for trial.

As these silent ex's have proven over and over, it's all too easy to make an inconvenient women disappear. You don't even have to try to pretend someone else did it anymore.

As long as they can't find her, you're scot free.

Susan had a plan in place in case she was going to leave Josh so things were not what they seemed on the outside in this family. Brings us closer to the real SOB in this case--- JOSH, not that we didn't know it was him from the start....

Susan Powell Reportedly Made Plans to Leave Husband 1 Year Ago, Feared Kidnapping

A year before her disappearance, Susan Powell thought about divorcing her husband and even put together a plan in case he tried to kidnap her sons or strip her of her finances, friends told The Salt Lake Tribune.

Susan Powell reportedly told her friends that she went so far as to set up her own bank account, prepare for a place to stay if she left her husband, Joshua Powell, and wrote up an informal will, the paper reported.

Her friends said Susan Powell wanted to make sure they all knew about her plans, the paper reported.

After fasting and praying, she made the decision to stay in her marriage, which many friends and family say had improved over the last year, according to the paper.

Silent ex's are usually controlling type men, part of the reason they feel entitled to make a woman disappear when she becomes inconvenient (like leaving). But this silent ex has taken controlling behavior to a new low:

Neighbors Say Husband Possibly Involved in Disappearance of Susan Powell
Nineveh Dinha, Anchor/Reporter and Jared Preusz, Web Content Producer FOX 13 News
December 23, 2009

[Close friend Jim] Peterson said he developed a close relationship with Susan and feared for her life. He said that Susan would confide in him about their marriage and would e-mail him from her workplace because Josh was "possessive and controlling." Peterson said Josh would not allow Susan to have any access to the computers at her home.

This is beyond belief. I could go on, like this:

Searching for Susan Powell: Neighbor describes husband's odd behavior
Missing mom » Friend says man seemed indifferent to wife's disappearance.
By Sheena Mcfarland
The Salt Lake Tribune
December 24, 2009

Powell once yelled at the Petersons for taking off their shoes and socks in his home, saying he'd have to spend all night cleaning the floors from the germs on their bare feet.

The guy is as tightly wound as any silent ex we've seen. Which is saying something.

Apparently, on the "camping trip" taken when Susan disappeared, Powell incurred "the worst wind burn" Peterson had ever seen on the back of his hands and he kept applying lotion to them as they talked in Peterson's front room [two days later, when Joshua Powell dropped by the Peterson home].

To have the back of his hands exposed for a lengthy period of time I would say was from burying Susan out there in the desert, where he couldn't quit until he was done and under time pressure while his sons were sleeping in the van.

Burying the missing woman is unusual. But this silent ex programmer may have been trying to pull off programmer Hans Reiser's murder without getting convicted. (see Noted coder Hans Reiser arrested for wife's disappearance) Nina Reiser was buried in a 4 foot hole on a hillside only a half mile from where silent ex Hans was living with his mother.

Nina would have never been found had Reiser not been convicted and led police there to get leniency in sentencing.

The same will be true with this silent ex, and he has been careful not to leave any blood evidence like the minute amounts inadvertantly left by Reiser when he subdued Nina in her kitchen (with the kids down the stairs, where he had come to pick them up.)

Yes, this is a carefully planned murder by another programmer who apparently believes he can get away with it if no blood is found and he doesn't say anything.

And let's not forget the enabling family. Like we've said, this is Hans Reiser morphing into Scott Peterson. (see Background Information on Laci Peterson)

Hate to see this all unfold in front of our eyes again, (and again, and again) but I fear, I must agree with you RD. Nicely done. Sort of a metamorphosis of some lovely gentlemen taking place. Josh will get his just due someday.

I'd found this site as a result of my ongoing obsession with the Amanda Knox case & bookmarked it:

Eyes For Lies

Yesterday she posted her impressions of a Josh Powell interview. Worth reading IMHO.

I would definitely like to have her impressions of the Connie Chung interview with Condit.

Thanks for positng the site lector. I found it very interesting. It was so perfect example of our Josh.

This about sums it up:

I believe Josh knows a heck of lot more than he is telling us. I don't see anything in this interview that supports honesty, if you want my opinion.

Friends and family of Susan Powell launched a three-day social media blitz on Monday to help find the missing Utah mother of two who disappeared almost a month ago.

Friends saturated social networking sites, like Facebook and Twitter, and organized a mass e-mail campaign to spread information about Powell through the Internet, The Salt Lake Tribune reported.

Kiirsi Hellewell, Powell's friend, posted a slideshow with pictures of the missing woman on YouTube and is hoping her disappearance will become a popular topic on Twitter, the Tribune reported.

Organizers said there will also be a purple ribbon campaign to raise awareness of her disappearance and Facebook users are being asked to change their profile pictures to a purple ribbon.
