CNN--Larry King Live, July 12, 2001

We begin with Chief Charles Ramsey of the D.C. Metropolitan Police. We think Chief Ramsey very much for joining us.

Chief, what can you tell us? Any evidence found on what you took out of the apartment?

CHIEF CHARLES RAMSEY, D.C. METROPOLITAN POLICE: Well, that's still in the process of being sent down to the FBI Crime Lab. You know, here in the District of Columbia we don't have a forensic lab. All of our evidence is sent to the FBI automatically anyway, and we've yet to get anything back from that.

Condit-Atty for Anne Marie Smith on Fox Wire w/Rita Cosby-Confirms tabloid reports

Attorney for Anne Marie Smith was just on Fox Wire with Rita Cosby. He confirms what was reported in the tabloids months ago.

Testing from the search at Condit's condo in DC has come back showing multiple semen stains on his carpet. DNA testing is not known to him yet.

He indicated that he now has six clients connected to the Condit case and has received this info from three seperate sources, all with connections to the DC Police.

He also said that Condit ran with many people in DC including members of Congress from both sides of the aisle and diplomats from Saudi Arabia.

Anybody have the old thread where a source that goes by the name of "Horsewhisperer" indicated a Saudi connection?

According to Robinson, find out who the semen belongs to and you find your motive for Chandra disappearing.

Maybe, but according to him, Anne Marie told the FBI the day they questioned her for hours that Condit had invited her to his condo and indicated that there were several men there that wanted to "meet her". That's when she first got scared. He said tonight, (and I'm sure he's being somewhat dramatic), that her thoughts now are that if she had gone and realized too late what was up, she has no doubt she would have ended up like Chandra.
I always found Anne Marie Smith to be very credible. And, more importantly, so did the FBI.

hi Rainbow and sigsky, these are the sources for that:

The Edge with Paula Zahn
July 19, 2001

ROBINSON: In Mr. Condit's apartment Anne Marie was not allowed to go into a particular closet. She had to use the hall closet. She couldn't go into his closet in the bedroom. She was forbidden from doing that. And apparently they found very interesting things in that closet along with the other DNA evidence all over the apartment.

Smith shares intimate Condit details
By Paul Sperry
WorldNetDaily.com
July 20, 2001

Anne Marie Smith, the United Airlines flight attendant who claims to have had a yearlong fling with U.S. Rep. Gary Condit, charges that the congressman talked about other men during phone sex, according to her lawyer.

Washington police investigating the disappearance of intern Chandra Levy, who also was seeing Condit, know about the disturbing phone conservations, the lawyer says, and are looking closely at anyone Levy might have been involved with through the married California Democrat...

Smith, who was based in San Francisco before recently going on leave, had several long-distance phone conversations with Condit over the past year in which Condit allegedly urged her to participate with him in sexual acts with "other guys," her lawyer James H. Robinson said.

"What was really unusual was his phone sex, in which he would talk about his sexual fantasies," Robinson told WorldNetDaily. "He said he had friends who he wanted to get involved in strange things."

Robinson says he doesn't know to which "friends" Condit was referring, saying only that they were male friends.

He said Condit once intimated to his client over the phone: "I have a fantasy about a bunch of guys and one woman you."

Robinson, speaking from his Seattle home, where Smith has been staying, asserted that the alleged phone sex was always one-way and that Smith "never participated" in, or egged on, his fantasies.

He adds that Smith, although she says Condit is very "charming" and "controlling," did not entertain any of Condit's alleged fantasies, and says his client does not know if Condit acted out his multi-partner fantasies with Levy or other women.

Personally I don't believe the lawyer's statement that the DC police found anything interesting in that closet because obviously 1) it was some sort of sex toys, and 2) Condit had months to clean out his apartment of said items for the prearranged search of his apartment.

In fact, it would hae been cleaned out by necessity when his wife flew in and Chandra moved her stuff out, so even if the search warrant originally sought by the DC police due to the phone call from Joleen Argentini McKay, they wouldn't have found anything in the way of sex toys, not that that's consficatable material.

On the other hand, it was implied by Robinson based on Anne Marie's statements to be bondage related as he talks about it in conjunction with Anne Marie seeing neckties tied to his bedposts and knotted together under the bed.

Possible they would associate that with the leggings knotted at the ends which appear to be to bind the victim, Chandra, and possibly tilt the circumstantial case to be made away from Guandique and toward a known bondage practicer based on Anne Marie's say so.

She was right about his car, and no known discrepancies in anything she told the police, but her accounts of the Condit midnight phone call from Luray has been ignored, and the press picked up a little on the bondage statements but DC police may have disregarded this information as much as Luray, so Chandra's knotted leggings haven't been much of a factor in seeking the truth, unfortunately.

Hi RD!
Great post and source. I, myself, believe what Mr. Robinson said about the closet contents. What he says bears great weight, as he had access to those experts who came to "pick up the laundry".

Right. He was citing Anne Marie who certainly saw the contents.

What I was saying is that I don't believe his statement that the police found anything interesting when they searched. It would have long been cleaned out. It was a prearranged search with his permission and his wife and lawyer were there.

rd and rainbow,

Thanks for the context. That helps a lot. Of course Condit would have removed anything incriminating from the apartment before the search, like the watch box. The comment about the pants with the red stain is curious. Why wouldn't that have been covered by the warrant?

Hi!
There was some other reporting on the Luray call, e.g. Lisa De Paulo, Paula Zahn and/or Rita Cosby. I will try finding the articles later.
Some people believe that Chandra Levy was still alive after May 1 and was murdered between the time when Anne-Marie received the call from Mr. C. about the "sex-date" with multiple male partners and the Luray cavern call. She may have died close to the date of her graduation ceremony. The Luray Caverns area was where her body was possibly stored.
It is my opinion that law enforcement was also going along with this theory and for local, national, and/or international political reasons, let the case remain "unsolved". Moreover, since Chandra's murder may have been committed by a professional, it would have been hard to prove in court, due to the "lack" of evidence.
