Police now suspect foul play. Her father has stated she would never leave her children either. This case is starting to take a familiar change, one we do not like to see here.

Renee is about 5 feet, 7 inches tall with blue eyes and shoulder-length brunette hair.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A missing 35-year-old mother of three may be a victim of foul play, Kansas City police said.

Renee Pernice was last seen by her husband Friday morning. The Kansas City Star reported Tuesday that Pernice's cell phone was found Saturday in northeast Kansas City, and that police canvassed the area that day and again Monday.

Police spokesman Darin Snapp said investigators believe her disappearance is suspicious, and that foul play may have been involved.

Here is a bit of shocking news from the above article:

Pernice's husband, Shon Pernice, declined to comment Monday.

Is this the start of the usual pattern all? The silent husband refuses to speak and of course his next step will be to hire a lawyer.
Is it time we start to take a closer look at him?
We must make note her cell phone has been found too, but not poor Renee....

Of course the hubby has lawyered up and they were having problems in their marriage. Once they filed for divorce but they decided to stay together.

Her cell phone was found 12-15 miles from her home.

This case is now taking a familiar case with the husband now only speaking through his lawyer and his wife missing for no reason at all. I do not expect to hear any good news about Renee. Let us hope she is still alive.

Neighbors of 35-year-old Northland resident Renee Pernice, who hasn't been seen since Jan. 2, are worried.

"We're all just feeling uneasy right now," Debbie Scott told MyFOXKC.com. "We are concerned about what's going on and we just what it all to end, we want her to come home and all this to just be over."

A K-9 unit helped in the search on Wednesday. Detectives spent most of the day combing a park and a heavily wooded area behind it near Pernice's house.

Family and friends of a missing Missouri mother gathered for another search for the teacher but her husband wasn't among them, MyFOXKC.com reported.

Loved ones of Renee Pernice, 35, searched for evidence Monday morning but found no signs of her. A vigil was held in the bitter cold Monday night.

Pernice's husband, Army Sgt. Shon Pernice, and the couple's three children didn't participate in the search, according to MyFOXKC.com. He did attend the vigil, however.

Renee's family said calls to Shon have not been answered and they haven't seen the children since she disappeared Jan. 2, MyFOXKC.com reported.

Shon Pernice has been speaking with police through his attorney, who said he wants his wife to be found.

Monday's search focused on a wooded area near the Pernices' home in Northland, Mo. More than 80 people participated.

They nailed this silent ex, goz. This is similar to some other cases where they find a trail of blood through the house where yet one more guy getting rid of an inconvenient woman was disposing of her.

There's no easy answer for this, but I would say a woman seeking a divorce should arrange with a service and family and call in once an hour, have someone close to you stay with you and family at night if at all possible, be armed, and know where the soon-to be-ex is, in many cases still in the same house.

And as soon as he threatens you, hopefully get it recorded with cell phone, transmit to family, and seek restraining order and let police know. Silent ex's are killing the women before they can even have a hearing on the restraining order.

Perhaps communities should set up similar facilities as Battered Women Shelters for men who have a restraining order on them and no place to go until the house is sold or divorce final, hopefully with some counseling.

The counselors could be the person the women call into hourly to let them they're ok.

Needs to be lots more proactive done here to keep women from disappearing.

Missouri Mom About to Get Divorce Before Disappearing
Fox News
January 17, 2009

Investigators collected blood evidence and carpet samples from the home of a missing Missouri mother, who was in the process of getting a divorce when she disappeared Jan. 2, according to a court affidavit released Friday.

Police found disposable latex gloves in a coat pocket and pants pockets with various stains on them when they searched the home of Renee Pernice Jan. 8, MyFOXKC.com reported.

They also discovered a reddish stain on the ceiling and a spot in the garage that tests showed was human blood, the station reported.

Renee Pernice's husband Shon Pernice has made inconsistent statements about when he last saw her, according to court documents.

Thanks for the update RD..I knew the snake did it. Do you know if they made the arrest yet or just got the goods on the slimebag?

I have not read of an arrest yet anywhere- maybe they are still in the gathering stage and getting an airtight case against him so he doesn't slip through the system.

You make some good suggestions for women when they are going through a divorce or filing for one. Restraining orders just don't seem to help much anymore.

good eve

Please call LE if you have any leads. I was hoping after they gathered evidence, they would have been able to arrest the husband but I guess there is not enough yet to build a case. Another case with no body at this time too.

Case of Missing Missouri Mom Now a Death Investigation
Friday, February 06, 2009
Fox News & Associated Press

The case of a missing Missouri mother is now officially a death investigation, prosecutors said.

Renee Pernice, 35, vanished Jan. 1. She was last seen by her husband Shon Pernice.

"We believe foul play is involved," Clay County Prosecutor Daniel White said Thursday.

Existing evidence and the amount of time that has passed since the woman's disappearance led prosecutors to change the status from a missing persons case to a death investigation, White said.

No one has been arrested in the case. Shon Pernice, a local firefighter and an Army medic who had recently returned from service in Iraq, has given different dates for when he last saw his wife, police have said.

The missing woman's family offered a $25,000 reward for new information about her disappearance, FOX4KC.com reported.
