Neil Entwistle Trial Delayed Again
The trial of a Massachusetts man accused of killing his wife and nine-months-old daughter has been delayed until June to allow one of his attorneys to recover from surgery. Neil Entwistle is facing charges of shooting his wife Rachel and daughter Lillian Rose in the couple's Hopkinton home on Jan. 20, 2006 before fleeing to England to his parents' home.

Elliot Weinstein, one of Entwistle's lawyers, told the judge in the case that his co-counsel, Stephanie Page, recently underwent "major surgery" and would not be able to go back to work until late in February.

"Ms. Page is at least 50 percent of the trial," said Weinstein. "In fairness to her, probably more than 50 percent of the work has been done by her."

Middlesex Superior Court Judge Diane Kottmyer granted the motion and delayed the start of the trial until June. It had been scheduled for March 17.

Neil Entwistle is accused of shooting and killing his wife and daughter in their home in January 2006. Entwistle flew his family's home in England the next day before the bodies were discovered. He was arrested in England several weeks later and returned to the United States to face charges.

How long is this trial going to be delayed? This man should have been in court long ago and hung by now. He killed his wife and child and fled. I'm very tired of seeing justice not being dished out to all these criminals.

Man goes on trial in killings of wife, infant

SNIP
Authorities say he fired two .22-caliber bullets into his wife, Rachel, and 9-month-old daughter, Lillian Rose, then fled to his family's home in Worksop, England, because he was despondent over mounting debt and dissatisfied with his sex life.

In the days before the killings, authorities say, he conducted online searches for information about murder and suicide.

Entwistle, 27, insists he loved his family and was so horrified at finding them slain that he returned to England to be with his parents. He said he didn't call for help because it was obvious they were dead.

Trial begins Monday
On Monday, he faces trial on two counts of first-degree murder.

Entwistle's attorneys have proclaimed his innocence, but have not given any hint of their trial strategy. Attorney Elliot Weinstein has repeatedly said he is concerned that Entwistle cannot receive a fair trial because of the extensive media coverage. On Friday, the judge denied a request to move the trial.

CNN Trial News

I read that Neil has been crying in court after seeing pictures of his wife and child killed.

What a load of crap. He killed them and has the nerve to cry.

I hope they give him the death penalty if it is available there.

He makes me just puke. He destroyed two lives and excepts to turn on the water works to gain sympathy from all. He is the lowest form of life.

Whenever I see something like that I get mad at the defense attorneys, Goz. Usually it is the defense attorney coaching the defendant to cry - the thought probably wouldn't even occur to most of them without the biggest enablers in the world, defense lawyers, egging them on.

Got to agree with you Jane once again. Defense attys. are as creepy as their clients. I suppose he told Neil to cry but Neil must have been crying pity tears for himself anyway. Some of them do to try and get out of their crimes. (not Scotty, or those who try to pretend they are innocent though).

I still find it hard to believe that Neil killed his wife and child in cold blood and fled to England. They say it was over 'money and sex.' What a scum. I never will understand these type of crimes. If it was in the heat of passion I could try and understand a bit more but not a crime as this one.

I am going to post in a page on the crime in case anyone wants to read how the case is proceeding and some information on it.

Good day

Neil was looking for a way to kill his wife, like Han's took out books on murder. Seems like these males all have the same agenda on getting rid of their spouses.

Computer Expert: Entwistle Searched for 'How to Kill' Days Before Slaying
Tuesday, June 17, 2008
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,368021,00.html

SNIP
WOBURN, Mass. A police detective testified in court Tuesday that a laptop computer taken from the home of a British man accused of killing his wife and 9-month-old daughter was used to search online on "how to kill with a knife" four days before the slayings.

Medford police Detective Lawrence James, a computer expert, said the Google search was done on January 16, 2006. Neil Entwistle has pleaded not guilty to murder charges stemming from the killing of his 27-year-old wife, Rachel, and their daughter, Lillian Rose, in their rented Hopkinton home on Jan. 20, 2006.

The 29-year-old Entwistle told police he returned home from shopping to find the victims dead in a bed in the master bedroom.

Prosecutors, however, sought to indicate that Entwistle was planning to kill his wife and child, saying that the suspect researched methods of murder and suicide in the days before he fatally shot them.

James is expected to continue his testimony about Entwistle's computer use Wednesday. Judge Diane Kottmyer ruled Tuesday that prosecutors will be allowed to present evidence that the suspect trolled the Internet looking for sex in the days before the slayings.

Hi Goz. A thought I always come back to when looking at cases where a woman is murdered by her husband or boyfriend (or ex-husband or ex-boyfriend) is the need to prevent women from getting involved with such men in the first place.

http://www.dvirc.org.au/whenlove/checklist.htm
Here is part of the checklist from the site linked above:
If you answer yes to any of the questions below, you could be in an abusive relationship, or your relationship could become abusive.

    - do you feel nervous around your boyfriend, girlfriend, or partner?
    - do you have to be careful to control your behaviour to avoid their anger
    - do you feel pressured by them when it comes to sex?
    - are you scared of disagreeing with them?
    - do they criticise you, or humiliate you in front of other people?
    - are they always checking up or questioning you about what you do without them?
    - do they repeatedly and wrongly accuse you of seeing or flirting with other people?
    - do they tell you that if you changed they wouldn't abuse you?
    - does their jealousy stop you from seeing friends or family?
    - do they make you feel like you are wrong, stupid, crazy, or inadequate?
    - have they ever scared you with violence or threatening behaviour?
    - do you often do things to please them, rather than to please yourself?
    - do they prevent you from going out or doing things you want to do?
    - do you feel that, with them, nothing you do is ever good enough?
    - do they say that they will kill or hurt themself if you break up with them?
The problem with this list, IMO, is that it is so obvious. Many girls would see that a guy with these traits was bad news. I think there should be a list of more subtle signs more easily missed.

I've been looking on the Internet and can't find anything.

The list covers many of the traits Jane but I think many girls/women ignore them or hope they go away after they become involved with the men. They should turn and run the first sign of trouble.

I'm sure Neil gave indications before the murder yet it seems with some of these men it comes out of nowhere.

Hi Goz. I think there are signs, but that some signs are 'way more subtle than the ones listed above - those are so obvious it would probably be only the most insecure girls or those from pretty dysfunctional families that wouldn't run.

Read this article and you can tell what garbage some defense attys. will spit out of their mouths. Just shocking what Neil's atty's are saying.

See below. I'm just so taken back but shouldn't be.

Jury Hears Closing Arguments in Entwistle Trial

SNIP
WOBURN, Mass. A defense attorney for a British man accused of killing his wife and 9-month-old daughter told a jury Monday that his wife shot the baby and committed suicide, and he covered up her actions to "protect her honor."

SNIP

What a load of BS this is. Yes, Neil is a hero and wanted to protect the family's good name. Cut me a break...

SNIP
But a prosecutor said Neil Entwistle killed his wife and daughter because he was dissatisfied with his sex life, despondent about not being able to find a job and wanted to start a new life.

Entwistle, 29, is charged with fatally shooting his wife, Rachel, 27, and daughter, Lillian Rose, in their Hopkinton home in January 2006. The judge was instructing the jurors on the law, and the panel could begin deliberations as early as Monday afternoon.
SNIP

But Fabbri said the suicide theory "does not make commonsense." Holding the long-barreled gun before the jury, Fabbri said that in order to find suicide credible, the jury would have to believe that Rachel Entwistle shot her baby through the chest, had that bullet lodge in her own breast, then raise the gun over her head and shoot herself at the top of her head, just beyond her hairline.

"It could not have happened the way they said it did," Fabbri said.

Fabbri told jurors that it may be difficult for them to comprehend how a man could kill his wife and baby daughter. But he urged the jury to consider a string of failures Entwistle had had in the months before the killings.

Britain Native Neil Entwistle Convicted of Murdering Wife, Baby Daughter
Wednesday, June 25, 2008
Fox News, Associated Press

SNIP
WOBURN, Mass. Neil Entwistle was found guilty Wednesday of murdering his wife and baby daughter.

Jurors found the British man guilty of first-degree murder in the killings of his 27-year-old wife Rachel and 9-month-old baby girl Lillian Rose, rejecting the defense's argument that Rachel Entwistle had killed the child and herself.

Entwistle, 29, closed his eyes and shook his head slightly upon being found guilty of two counts of first-degree murder in the shooting deaths of mother and child in the family's suburban Boston home. He also was convicted on two weapons charges.

His father, Clifford, said his son's fate was sealed even before the trial.

"We will continue to fight for our innocent son with the hope that one day justice will prevail and our little granddaughter, Lillian, will rest in peace," he said.

Rachel Entwistle's family did not immediately comment.

Sentencing was scheduled for Thursday morning.

Under Massachusetts state law, Entwistle must be sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Odd that the accused's father mentions the granddaughter resting in peace, but not the daughter-in-law.

That is strange Jane. He seems to be another enabling parent too.

We see many of them here on the board.

Sad Neil is not in a DP state. He really deserves it. It's funny he looks like the average, loving husband and they look like the perfect family to an outsider. One never knows what goes on behind closed doors.

I can only say Thank God the jury found him to be guilty. May they rest in peace now and her family be able to move on a bit.
