Family of Missing Chicago Woman Offers $10,000 Reward
Wednesday, September 26, 2007
Nailah Franklin
CHICAGO — The family of a missing Chicago woman was offering a $10,000 reward seeking information about her disappearance.
Nailah Franklin, 28, a pharmaceutical sales representative for Indianapolis-based Eli Lilly, was last heard from a week ago. Police found her car in Hammond, Ind., Friday night near an abandoned building.
Chicago police interviewed a man last week but have not named him a suspect. Franklin filed a police report about threatening phone calls she said she received from the man. The man told FOX Chicago that he was not involved in her disappearance and offered to take a polygraph test.

Franklin's family does not know the man, who has a criminal background including a 2001 escape from a federal courthouse and two orders of protection against him by his ex-wife and a girlfriend.`
Family and friends also launched a Web site seeking help in her disappearance and put up posters in a Chicago neighborhood.
"We have to keep active. We have to believe. You can't sit and wait for things to come to you," Marina Franklin said.
Franklin weighs about 110 pounds, with dark brown hair and a medium brown complexion.
Anyone with information should call Chicago police at 312-746-9259. |

Nailah Franklin was last heard from Tuesday, when she sent an uncharacteristically vague text message to friends and family saying that she was having dinner and that she'd call later.
She never did.
Days earlier, Franklin had filed a police report saying she had been getting threatening phone calls.
Franklin's sister, Lehia Franklin Acox, said the family is trying to stay positive as police search the car for clues that could shed light on her disappearance.
Being positive "is our only option," Acox said before a weekend prayer vigil.
"We're all just trying to keep our spirits up, but it's a challenge," she said. "This is really taking a toll on us, with every day that passes. We're not sleeping well, we're not eating well."
When Franklin didn't turn up for an important meeting last Wednesday with her boss at Eli Lilly and Co., co-workers at the Indianapolis-based drug company called her family, and family called police.
Franklin's sales territory covered Chicago's suburbs, her sister said.
Acox said it's unusual for Franklin not to contact her friends or family, leading them all to fear that she didn't leave willingly. Franklin had recently filed a police report about threatening phone calls she had received, but she declined to file an order of protection against the alleged offender, a man she once dated.
Franklin's car, along with some personal items, was found Friday night near an abandoned building in suburban Hammond, said Chicago Police spokeswoman Monique Bond. She said the car was being taken to Chicago for forensic and evidence processing.
Several jurisdictions, including Chicago, Hammond, and the Cook County Sheriff's department, were searching for Franklin, Bond said. Divers have also been involved in the search.
Acox said the discovery of the car was heartening because it could yield some clue to Franklin's whereabouts, but "on the other hand, it's still maddening because we do not have (her) back with us."

Quote: | McClellan heard at least one of the threats left for her friend. CBS 2 in Chicago reported her statement about that chilling message: “Basically [the message said] ‘I could do harm to you. You haven’t seen that side, of me but I do have a bad side and I could do harm to you’.” |
I found this quote on the crime blog. This seems pretty scary and I'm wondering if they will find this young lady alive. Wondering if she was being stalked?
All, please take a look at this case or see if you can find any information on it. I'm going to try and gather more information when I can on the caller.

Quote: | Police found her car in Hammond on Saturday, along with some personal items. Chicago police continue to investigate leads, including following up on a police complaint she filed recently that a man she briefly dated was threatening her. Another woman has filed two orders of protection against the same man in recent weeks, according to court records and a source. Police have also asked the FBI to help in their investigation.

Police Confirm Body Found Is Missing Chicago Woman
Friday, September 28, 2007
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,298460,00.html
Nailah Franklin
CHICAGO — A badly decomposed body found behind several vacant businesses in Calumet City this week is that of a Chicago woman reported missing nine days ago, authorities said Friday.
Dental records were used to identify the body of Nailah Franklin, 28, who was reported missing Sept. 19 after she didn't show up for a work meeting, Chicago police spokeswoman Monique Bond said. The cause of death was inconclusive, Bond said.
Franklin, a sales representative for Indianapolis-based Eli Lilly, had recently filed a police report about threatening phone calls she received from a man she dated briefly. Chicago police have said they've interviewed someone Franklin dated, but have not named a suspect in her disappearance.
I hope they find out soon what happened to Nailah. So sorry for her families loss. |

Police said Franklin told them a week prior to being reported missing that a man she briefly dated had been threatening her life, and she filed a police report. Police have talked to the man, who a law enforcement source said came with an attorney. But they have not named him as a suspect in her disappearance.
<snip>
Guess he couldn't answer the questions from LE without having an attorney with him!!! He has not been named a suspect to date but why do these guys always need their lawyers??? Guess cause he was calling her and bothering her so much she had to file a police report.
He is looking good for this crime to me. Why couldn't he just leave her alone anyway?
So sad, the loss of such a young, beautiful life.
