Missing Missouri Mother Never Arrived at Son's Birthday Party
Friday, August 10, 2007

Amy Oberhaus
A 33-year-old Missouri mother heading to her son's birthday party never showed up, police say.

Amy Oberhaus was last seen by her family at a bowling alley in St. Peters, Mo., on July 31. Oberhaus left to visit friends at a home in Dellwood, Mo.

Oberhaus left the friends' home around 8:30 p.m. to head to her son's birthday party in St. Peters, about 28 miles west of St. Louis, but she never arrived. She was last heard from at 9:16 p.m. on July 31.

“It appears to be out of character,” Brad Norris, a spokesman for the St. Peters Police Department told FOXNews.com. “She’s never been gone this long.”

Police have no suspects and haven’t received many calls with leads, Norris said.

“We haven’t ruled out anything,” Norris added.

Oberhaus, of Lincoln County, has no criminal background and is not married. She has an 11-year-old son and a 13-year-old son.

The white female is 5 feet, 11 inches with blonde hair and blue eyes, and has a tattoo of a flower on her left ankle. She has a medium build and weighs 160 pounds.

She was last seen wearing a light-colored T-shirt, blue jean shorts, white tennis shoes and white socks.Oberhaus was driving her 2006 black Jeep Commander with Missouri license plates 0AH-28Z.

Police ask anyone with information to call the department at 636-278-2244, ext. 520, or Crime Stoppers at 636-278-1000.

Police pull body, vehicle of missing woman from Missouri River

By Steve Pokin
Sunday, August 12, 2007 9:38 PM CDT

St. Charles police on Saturday morning found the body of Amy Oberhaus, 33, a Lincoln County woman missing since July 31.

The body was inside her 2006 black Jeep Commander, which was towed out of the Missouri River about 100 yards north of the boat launch at the Lewis and Clark Boathouse and Nature Center in St. Charles.

Police said at the scene that it is believed the vehicle went into the water at the boat launch and drifted downstream to where it was discovered Saturday morning by divers from the Missouri State Water Patrol.

Police said there was one body in the vehicle and that the investigation, at this point, is a "missing person" case and not a homicide.

Oberhaus was supposed to have been en route from a home in Dellwood to her son's birthday party in St. Peters on July 31. She reportedly left the Dellwood home at around 8:30 p.m. and never arrived at the party. She reportedly was last heard from at 9:16 p.m.

Earlier on July 31 she was with family members at the Cave Springs Bowling alley in St. Peters.

The Jeep was pulled from the water late Saturday morning by a tow truck from Cardinal Towing as dozens of participants from the Missouri River Relief cleanup event watched.

The parking lot for the boathouse and the nearby St. Charles Veterans Memorial was the staging area for the cleanup, which drew about 130 volunteers.

The vehicle was not discovered as part of the cleanup, according to St. Charles police.

St. Peters investigators had information that led them to the area Friday afternoon. Police searched the river Friday but did not find the vehicle.

Comments: It appears to date, sadly we lost this woman to an accident.

Police are doing an investigation and will announce a formal ID of the body. I will post when there is an official confirmation it is Amy even though they have stated it is Amy already. (?)

I would assume since she had MS, it is possible she may have had a seizure and went off the road.
