The car has always been a murky issue. Turns out the car has never been found.

It's no wonder Stepha hasn't been found either.

Mother of missing BK woman returns from Miami
Stepha Henry, 22, has been missing since May
ABC 7 Eyewitness News
August 17, 2007

(Brooklyn - WABC, August 17, 2007) - There is an update Friday on the missing 22-year-old John Jay College graduate.

Stepha Henry disappeared in south Florida on Memorial Day weekend.

Her mother just returned home to Brooklyn and spoke to Eyewitness News reporter Kemberly Richardson.

"I'm still praying and hoping," mother Sylvia Henry said. "And I know that God will deliver her one day."

This is not how it was supposed to be, not how Sylvia Henry ever imagined returning home to Brooklyn. She returned from Miami without her daughter, who has been missing since May.

"I had a tough time sleeping last night," she said.

Sylvia has been in south Florida for months, waiting for word from police about Stepha. The 22-year-old has not been seen since leaving her aunt's Miami home with a male friend around 1 a.m. May 29.

They drove to a Fort Lauderdale club, and arrived there safely. But after that, her trail goes cold.

"I think about her all the time, because she's my daughter and she's a nice girl," Sylvia said. "She's very, very loving and caring."

Miami police have suspected foul play all along, and say they have made considerable progress in the case, interviewing Stepha's friends and people who were at the club the night she disappeared. But they say there are two missing pieces, things that homicide detectives cannot find: The car Stepha rode into the club and Stepha herself, a woman they say would not simply take off.

There are reminders of Stepha everywhere in her room: A carnival mask, a picture with her sister in Miami the day before she disappeared and her suitcase. It was Sylvia who had to bring that back to New York.

"I just try to make each a day a better day by praying, and I pray for the Lord to hold me," she said.

Sylvia still believes Stepha is alive, and spends hours keeping her daughter's story out there through vigils and rallies. She hopes the reward, now up to $15,000, will help lead to Stepha, so that the next time she comes home, it will be with her daughter.

There has been no good updated news on Stepha's whereabouts nor the car. Strange they cannot find out about this CAR!

Stepha's story not heard
September 2, 2007

It's been three months since Stepha Henry vanished while visiting South Florida, and I'm still waiting for the vociferous community outcry, massive searches, daily police news conferences and the throng of media camped out her mother's front door.

But it's not coming, I know, because Stepha doesn't fit the profile of a damsel in distress — at least not in America.

Stepha, a 22-year-old Brooklyn resident, is a black young woman from Trinidad. She's not blonde, with hazel, green or blue eyes. Attractive as she may be, she doesn't meet European standards of "beauty." She comes from a working class family.

Stepha disappeared May 28 after last being sighted at Pepper's Cafe, a reggae club in Sunrise. Relatives said she left her aunt's North Miami home with a male acquaintance driving a dark Acura Integra.

A video shows Stepha at the club that night, but no one has seen or heard a peep of her since. The car is also missing.

Stepha has received sporadic coverage on stations like CNN, MSNBC and local media. But she hasn't received the perpetual attention given to the Natalee Holloways, Lacie Petersons or Jessie Marie Davises of the world.

All, by the way, are white women whose stories dominated the airwaves after their disappearances. And that's when the media wasn't obsessed with the lives of Anna Nicole Smith, Paris Hilton and Britney Spears.

Has the media been fair to Stepha?

There is finally a suspect being charged in Stepha's case but no body to report. Thank God we have someone- let us hope he talks.

Florida Police: 'Significant Blood Evidence' Led Them to Murder Suspect in Killing of N.Y. Woman
Tuesday, January 15, 2008

MIAMI — Miami detectives said that a "significant" amount of blood found inside the car of 32-year-old Kendrick Williams led them to charge him Tuesday with second-degree murder and tampering with evidence in the killing of New York native Stepha Henry.

Henry disappeared in South Florida in May while she was away for Memorial Day weekend.

Williams was initially picked up on a traffic violation in June but was arrested "without incident" for Henry's murder after authorities found him sleeping in a vehicle in a Brooklyn, N.Y., parking lot said James Loftus, assistant director of the Miami-Dade Police Department, in a news conference Tuesday afternoon.

Williams was arrested after forensic tests on his car linked him to the victim, according to Loftus, who said that it was "substantial evidence" found in the car — which he characterized as "significant blood evidence" — that investigators conclusively traced to Henry.

"We believe she was murdered by the subject," Loftus said Tuesday.

No body has yet been found, but the investigation is continuing and Williams is being questioned, according to Loftus.

Henry, who would have turned 23 in September, and her 16-year-old sister, Shola, came to Florida just before Memorial Day to celebrate Shola's birthday. They stayed with relatives, who last saw Henry on May 29 getting into a black sedan driven by a man.

That night, Henry had talked to her mother by phone, telling her she was getting ready to go to a nightclub. Her family has said she had made friends in South Florida during numerous visits to the area.

Miami-Dade County police said Williams was the driver of the black sedan, an Acura Integra. During the investigation, Williams told detectives that he had left the club early but that Henry decided to stay, officers said. He denied owning or driving an Acura Integra, said Loftus.

But detectives impounded the car, and analysis revealed evidence that linked Williams to Henry.

"We know she was in that car with Williams and other people at some point that evening," said Loftus. "We know she may have been in the car more than once that evening."

He pointed out that detectives have never said Henry was murdered in or near the nightclub, contrary to various media reports. He declined to offer details about where the killing took place.

well, thanks for that update, goz. So the guy that took her there and claimed he left early, a "family friend", assaulted and murdered Stepha? I posted at the time that "no one knew where the car was" was the biggest crock I ever heard.

Of course I thought it was in a canal with Stepha in it. But this guy drove it back to Brooklyn with Stepha's blood in it.

With friends like that, who needs enemies?

Here is an updated article on what is going on with the suspect in Stepha's case. No body has been found yet. Maybe they can get this creep to give up the information on where he buried the body. Let us hope so. Maybe they can use something on him to reduce his sentence for the sake of having her body found. The article is a couple days old but looks like the most recent.

The man accused of killing Stepha Henry is in a Miami-Dade jail, following his long-anticipated extradition from New York.

Kendrick Williams, 33, was arrested in January in New York and charged with second-degree murder in the slaying of Henry, a 22-year-old college graduate who disappeared nearly a year ago while visiting relatives in South Florida.

Though Henry's body has never been found, police have said they have enough evidence tying Williams to the crime.

Williams was one of the last people Henry was seen alive with on May 29. A few months later, police found her blood inside his black Acura Integra.

Still, Steve and Sylvia Henry continue to hope that their daughter will be found alive.

''We don't want to think that the worst happened to her,'' Steve Henry said Monday.
