I say NO WAY. Deborah Palfrey is the DC madame that has been arrested for running a high-priced escort service. She operated under the name of Pamela Martin and Associates. She, also is from Calif.

Last night Rod Wheeler (former DC detective) was on O'Reilly and said that he thought that maybe Chandra was involved with this excort service or somehow knew about it.

Rod Wheeler called the DC Police dept. and told them to get ahold of the 10,000 client list and go over it and compare names that came up during the Chandra investigation. Rod Wheeler worked originally on Chandra's case.

Apparently this client list goes from the White House and down - MANY politians. She is threatning to sell the list for her legal defense.

Oh, I see what you mean by "mixed up with", blondie. I read it as misidentified or something, and I was wondering who the heck Deborah Palfrey is. I need to read it "mixed up to her neck with" this madam.

Good grief. At first glance that's just shameful to say, but knowing something about it, something that could have even cost her her life, is very different from being associated with it. Rod Wheeler was heavily involved in analysis in the summer of 2001. He knows a lot, enough to know Chandra was deeply in love with Condit, and also had a great deal of self esteem.

She is a person who was completing her Master's Degree and applying for a career with the FBI. She thought she would be a Congressman's wife. She was not a party girl, she was deadly serious about her life and career.

Now some will suggest that Condit may have intended to suggest such things to her, and I have no doubt he would have or may have as he did in suggesting similar things to Anne Marie, albeit in the form of fantasies. Still scared the heck out of Anne Marie, although she still talked to him. She ended up never meeting him again after that though.

But for someone to suggest that Chandra would prostitute herself, even at Condit's behest, is someone who doesn't know much about her. Even the affair was essentially with a man who claimed an invalid wife back in California who he couldn't desert in her final days.

I'm sorry, but that simply doesn't rise to the level of an affair, much less an entry in a Washington DC madam's black book.

hello, all ...

it's good to see so many still here and active the minute chandra's name pops up in the news. fwiw, fox news is reporting this story in the context of chandra being in danger because she knew or may have known about the list of politicians frequenting the call girls, not that she was in any way working with them. i suspect that's the case, too, and now i betcha anything that's what she was talking about when she left a message for her aunt.

i'm also hearing speculation that examining and analyzing the list of dc johns could make it possible to identify men who have demonstrated a strong preference for women with chandra's look, as well as men who favored parks and wooded areas for their trysts. omg, do you have any idea how many political slime balls of all sizes, shapes, colors and gross perversions are dying a thousand deaths on a moment to moment basis about now??? i think i'll run right out and buy stock in all the companies making maalox, tums, alka seltzer, yada yada ... the dc sales alone ought to send revenues right out the ceiling.

i'm confident that we all know here how dangerous it would be to even have that kind of information, much less talk about it on the phone and possibly other places, as well. now i have to wonder if she might have made a comment to some intern pal or such, word got back to the pal's boss, gary got instructions to take care of the problem, and chandra ended up dead. considering the governmental heights to which some of the names on this list have risen, all the way back through Who knows how many administrations, there's plenty of incentive for doing whatever is necessary to keep the secrets secret.

in any event, chandra's story is back in the news and that means there is real hope that the truth will finally come to light ... that's all anyone here has ever really tried to accomplish with examining chandra's death, so i'm calling this latest attention an answer to my prayers and a lot of other prayers, too. i also consider it a thoroughly divine coincidence that scary gary's name is suddenly popping up in an altogether unrelated news report, just to make sure that no one forgets the name of the slime bucket who is and always will be associated with chandra's death.

hugs all around ... hope all are well, staying warm and not blowing away ~

Thanks for that insight into what is going on, nanci. I think you are right on in this and that most people will agree with you. There's been plenty of suspicion of something like this all along. Who knew that names would be named, though?

I think Chandra found out something that ended her life. My suspicion though is that the big news was a ploy from Condit for her to keep yet another secret (the big news) to talk over when someone met her and took her to Rock Creek Park.

He certainly has no alibi for the afternoon she disappeared.

Please keep us updated if you hear anything more. This is not a story I would expect to go away soon.

Funny, but I don't think Condit was one to procure the services of prostitutes. He made a (convincing) pretense of caring for many, if not most, of his lovers, who tended to be nice girls who truly cared about him.

It will be interesting to see if this brings us any further to solving the case. Some of this information does match up w/Anne Marie and Jim Robinson's depictions. We do have to remember that Condit was a member of the Intelligence Committee and that often such "trysts" w/figures of national and international importance are used to gain intelligence information. That would also explain why the "cover-up" has been so "deep".

Hello Everybody,

I saw this too. I remember Wheeler as being an earnest fellow and am glad to see his continued interest in the case.

Here's something to hang a hope on. This afternoon I watched a show on the Oxygen channel. A woman named Jacque McDonald was the mother of a murdered woman in Modesto. The case was cold for nine years. But Mrs. McDonald never gave up. She organized an extraordinary effort to keep the case alive by calling Unsolved Mysteries, America's Most Wanted and publishing fliers, inserts, and billboards with her daughter's picture and information. One of the policemen investigating the case, Ed Steele, got a tip one night from a recovering crook he had taken an interest in. The former crook gave the name of a man who mentioned murdering a woman years ago. Steele put two and two together and the murderer Scott Fizzel was caught and convicted.

Mrs. McDonald apparently has a radio show called 'The Victim's Voice' in the Modesto area now.

I wonder if Officer Steele is related to Chandra's first older boyfriend in Modesto Mark Steele who was also a cop?

Glad to hear you guys again.

James

You haven't lost a step, James. That's an intriguing question.

Steele seems to be a common name there. I saw both a Steele St. and Steele Ct. listed for Modesto (could be the same though).

But talk about coincidences. In doing a search on Edward Steele (his full name accoring to crimenews2000.com), I saw Denis Edeline's name come up for Modesto. I thought, holy cow, that is not a common spelling.

Turns out he posted a relative's name in Modesto from 1894 in a geneology site, so there was the connection to bring his name up.

But I didn't see anything linking Mark and Ed Steele. Maybe just another coincidence, like with Ederline.

Jim Robinson and Anne Marie Smith have inside knowledge of and experience with the facts of the case. People who were intimately involved with the case, like they were, were made to feel that they had to let it go. This former DC detective is very courageous to continue on with the case and very smart to be out in front of the media (for his own safety), in case what he has to say is relevant to solving the murder-mystery.

She pleaded not guilty and is now wearing an electronic monitoring device.

She's still fighting to sell her list of names. Lots of political maneuvering going on. It says there are even johns bidding to buy the list so they can keep their names secret.

15,000 names in 40 pounds of records. A federal judge delayed a ruling on blocking the sale. Someone's probably arranging for all that evidence to "disappear" before the "sensitive information" ruling is eventually thrown out for the political coverup crap that it is.

So it's OK to monitor this madam, but wrong to monitor those who prey on women and children (like the killers of Dru Sjodin and little Jessica Lunsford)? Yes, these powerful Washington Johns need protection - they are important. People like Dru and Jessica are expendable. :(

Feds Seek To Gag D.C. Madam

Prosecutors fear leak of sensitive client, escort information

MARCH 7--Federal prosecutors want to gag an indicted former Washington, D.C. madam who has recently threatened to go public with details about her former customers.

In a motion filed Monday in U.S. District Court, investigators are seeking a protective order covering discovery material to be provided to Deborah Palfrey and her lawyers. Palfrey, 50, was indicted last week on racketeering and money laundering charges stemming from her operation of the Pamela Martin & Associates escort service, which closed last summer after 13 years in business.

In their motion, government lawyers claim that some discovery documents contain "personal information" about Palfrey's former johns and prostitutes that is "sensitive." The prosecution filing does not detail the nature of this confidential information, though the identity of Palfrey's D.C. customers would surely be cloaked if the protective order was signed by Judge Gladys Kessler.

According to the prosecution motion, while Palfrey and her lawyers would be able to use the discovery material to help prepare a defense, they would not be allowed to disclose the documents to anyone else (nor use the material for any other purposes).

Palfrey, whose assets were frozen late last year, has recently floated the idea of selling her escort business's phone records. She has also "made statements that could be considered veiled threats to cause embarrassment to former customers and employees," according to the motion.

In connection with an asset forfeiture action, Palfrey has sought to depose political consultant Dick Morris, who she has identified as a former escort service client.

While no clients are identified in Palfrey's five-count indictment, the charging document indicates that 14 former associates testified before the grand jury that indicted her. Palfrey was previously convicted of operating a prostitution business in California and spent 18 months in prison.

Before closing her business, Palfrey operated a web site touting Pamela Martin & Associates as "the best adult agency around," claiming that it had an "ongoing repeat clientele rate of 65-75%."

Palfrey's site also advertised for escorts. Prospective hookers, she noted, had to be at least 23 years old with two or more years of college. And her $275-an-appointment employees had to be "weight proportionate to height."

Personally, I think those height/weight charts are bogus (according to them, I should be
over 6 feet tall!) Just kidding.
