Jane and Gang,
Here are some more of the requirements escorts were asked to meet. I caution that the article is not "G-rated".

Here is a sample of Deborah Palfrey's phone records. What about the records for the late part of April and first half of May, 2001?

Good questions. With the reported deal with a media company, I don't know if the list of phone numbers with attempted identifications will be listed publically or not.

Including what dates they have may answer that question. If they ever see the light of day.

Hi All!
While researching this subject, I did come across an article stating that Deborah Palfrey had made a deal to pass on her phone records to a news organization, free-of-charge, just so the info can be a part of public record. I'll dig around for it and post it as soon as I find it.

I hope that the un-named news org will just print the raw data.

One thing that would be fun to search would be (202) 225- (anything) !

That's the beginnings of all Congressional Office phone numbers.

Does anyone have Chandra's number at The Newport? I can't remember if she had a land-line that we posted here. I did a general search but didn't see it. I'll look on my "Dead Mac" and see if I've got it there.

with Renewed Interest!

James

James, I do not recall seeing any of Chandra's phone numbers mentioned by anyone. The Newport number would have been listed under Denis Edeline's name. She was to pay him for any long distance, but she made no long distance calls on it.

(But plenty of untraceable local - versus cell phone - calls to Condit's girlie line). Also for example the Saturday evening call to Sven leaving a plaintive message as that was not from her cell phone.

Also during that time period of early to mid April she was using her father's cell phone while they were visiting. She was talking to Condit every day then, and those "girlie line" calls to leave messages for him to call back are on her father's cell phone bill. The numbers weren't given out though.

I spend a great deal of time analyzing all this in Murder on a Horse Trail. It is as Condit planned it, too difficult for the police, reporters, or most anyone else too busy to deal with anything non-obvious to grasp.

D.C. Madame Gives Away Client List

A woman accused of running an escort service in the Washington D.C. area for 13 years has been ordered by a judge not to sell her client list to the news media, but her lawyer says she has already turned the records over to a news outlet -- for free. Deborah Palfrey warned federal prosecutors that she was not someone with whom they wanted to tangle and had threatened to release her client list if she was backed into a corner.

Palfrey, 50, ran Pamela Martin and Associates in the D.C. area from 1994 until it closed in August 2006. She claims it was an elite escort service that provided legal services. However, the U.S. attorney's office claims that Palfrey was operating a high-end prostitution ring. She was indicted last month on federal racketeering and money laundering charges and her assets were frozen.

Prosecutors went to court to try to block the release of the so-called D.C. Madame's little black book -- which is actually about 40 pounds of telephone records. They argued that releasing information about her 10,000 past and present clients amounted to witness tampering and intimidation.

Palfrey said she was being forced to sell the list to pay for her defense. The judge ruled that Palfrey could not sell the list, but Palfrey's attorney said his client had already turned over the list to a news organization "unconditionally."

Speculation inside the Beltway is running rampant about which news organization has the list and whose names will be on there. About Journalism Guide Bridget Johnson speculates that the list will be "the most bipartisan roll call D.C. has seen in a long time."

So-Called 'D.C. Madam' Deborah Jeane Palfrey Found Guilty On All Counts
Tuesday, April 15, 2008
Associated Press

SNIP
A federal jury has convicted Deborah Jeane Palfrey of running a high-end prostitution ring whose clients included members of Washington's political elite.

Palfrey, who was found guilty of racketeering and money laundering, sighed as the verdict was announced in a federal courtroom.

Palfrey, 52, repeatedly denied the escort service she ran for 13 years, Pamela Martin & Associates, engaged in prostitution, saying that if any of the women engaged in sex acts for money, they did so without her knowledge.

The trial concluded without the testimony of two prominent men linked to the case: Sen. David Vitter, R-La., who has publicly apologized to constituents for what he called a "very serious sin"; and Randall L. Tobias, who resigned as a deputy secretary of state after acknowledging to ABC News that he used Palfrey's service for massages.

She was convicted on all counts she faced: Money laundering, using the mail for illegal purposes and racketeering. The jury deliberated for seven hours on Monday and Tuesday.

If they had just payed their taxes half this stuff wouldn't have been an issue.

So did they charge and convict the women and johns too, like Senator Vitter?

No? Why not? Oh, because he didn't mail it in, so to speak, so no mail fraud? How about male fraud?

What a bunch of worthless hypocrites.

Police: Woman believed to be 'D.C. madam' kills herself 14 minutes ago

TARPON SPRINGS, Fla. - A woman police believe to be convicted Washington escort service operator Deborah Jeane Palfrey committed suicide, officials said Thursday.

Police said the body was found in a shed near Palfrey's mother's home Thursday morning. There was a suicide note, but police did not disclose its contents or how she killed herself.

Police said they were trying to confirm the woman's identity, but did not immediately have additional comment when reached by telephone. Palfrey's attorney, Preston Burton, did not return a telephone call and e-mail message.

The District of Columbia U.S. attorney's office, which spent years investigating and prosecuting Palfrey, was aware of the media reports and was awaiting confirmation from law enforcement, said spokeswoman Channing Phillips.

Police did not immediately have additional comment when reached by telephone. Palfrey's attorney, Preston Burton, did not return a telephone call and e-mail message.

Palfrey was convicted April 15 by a federal jury of running a prostitution service that catered to members of Washington's political elite, including Sen. David Vitter, a Louisiana Republican.

She had denied her escort service engaged in prostitution, saying that if any of the women engaged in sex acts for money, they did so without her knowledge.

She was convicted of money laundering, using the mail for illegal purposes and racketeering. Palfrey faced a maximum of 55 years in prison and was free pending her sentencing July 24.

Prosecutors said Palfrey operated the prostitution service for 13 years.

Her trial concluded without revealing many new details about the service or its clients. Vitter was among possible witnesses, but did not take the stand.

Vitter, a first-term senator who is married and has four children, has acknowledged being involved with Palfrey's escort service and has apologized for what he called a "very serious sin." But he avoided commenting further.

One of the escort service employees was former University of Maryland, Baltimore County, professor Brandy Britton, who was arrested on prostitution charges in 2006. She committed suicide in January before she was scheduled to go to trial.

Last year, Palfrey said she, too, was humiliated by her prostitution charges, but said: "I guess I'm made of something that Brandy Britton wasn't made of."

'D.C. Madam' believed dead

Story Highlights
NEW: Body found in shed on mother's property with suicide notes, police say

Suicide victim is believed to be woman known as 'D.C. Madam,' police say

Deborah Jeane Palfrey was convicted of running prostitution ring

Service reportedly had list of high-powered Washington clients

(CNN) -- A woman who police believe to be Deborah Jeane Palfrey, known as the "D.C. Madam," was found dead in Florida Thursday, according to Tarpon Springs police.

Deborah Jeane Palfrey was convicted of running a high-powered prostitution ring.

The body has not been positively identified.

"Detectives are investigating an apparent suicide of a (white female) that appears to be in her early 50s," Tarpon Springs police said in a news release.

Suicide notes were found near the body in a small storage shed next to a mobile home, police said.

Palfrey, 52, was reportedly staying at the home of her mother, who owns the property where the body was found, police said.

The Pinellas County Medical Examiner's Office will determine the cause of death, police said.

The county sheriff's office and the FBI are participating in the investigation.

Palfrey was convicted last month in connection with a high-end prostitution ring catering to Washington's elite.

Jury finds 'D.C. Madam' guilty

She was found guilty of money laundering, racketeering and mail fraud. She was awaiting sentencing with a potential of 50 years in jail.

At least one lawmaker, Louisiana Sen. David Vitter, a Republican, turned up in the phone records of her business, Pamela Martin & Associates.

State Department official Randall Tobias resigned in May 2007 after confirming he patronized Palfrey's business.

She argued it was a legitimate, legal escort service.

If this was really a suicide it is very sad. But if this woman, who may have 'known too
much' was SUICIDED, that just goes to show she may have known some very interesting
info about some very powerful people who made sure she was silenced forever.

Police: 'D.C. madam' kills herself in Fla. coastal town By MITCH STACY, Associated Press Writer

TARPON SPRINGS, Fla. - Police have confirmed that a woman convicted of running a high-end prostitution ring in Washington has committed suicide in a Florida Gulf Coast town.

Tarpon Springs police say the body of 52-year-old Deborah Jeane Palfrey was found hanged in a shed near her mother's manufactured home Thursday morning. Palfrey left a suicide note but police did not disclose its contents. Police say Palfrey's mother found the body.

A federal jury convicted Palfrey two weeks ago of running a prostitution service that catered to members of Washington's political elite. One of her clients was Sen. David Vitter, a Louisiana Republican.

She had denied her escort service engaged in prostitution. She said she never heard of any of the women who worked for her engaging in sex acts for money.

I wonder if the news corporation and/or the d.c. cop that saw possible connections to the Levy case found any actual evidence linking the two.

Biography
Palfrey was born in Charleroi, Pennsylvania, but grew up partially in Orlando, Florida. Her father was a grocer. She graduated from Rollins College with a degree in criminal justice, and attended Thomas Jefferson School of Law, but did not graduate.[2] Working as a paralegal in San Diego, California, and later as a cocktail waitress,[3] she became involved in the escort business. Dismayed at how most services were run, including widespread drug abuse, she started her own company.[2]

D.C. Madam scandal
Palfrey appeared on ABC's 20/20 as part of an investigative report on 4 May 2007.[4] In combination with Palfrey's statement that she has 10,000 to 15,000 phone numbers of clients, this has caused several clients' lawyers to contact Palfrey to see whether accommodations could be made to keep their identities private.[5] Ultimately, ABC News, after going through what was described as "46 lbs" [21 kg] of phone records, decided that none of the potential clients was sufficiently "newsworthy" to bother mentioning.[6]

The scandal has led to the resignation of Ambassador Randall L. Tobias from his State Department position and as the Administrator of the U.S. Agency for International Development. Also named was Washington Times columnist Harlan Ullman of the Center for Strategic and International Studies.

On July 9th, 2007 Palfrey released the supposed entirety of her phone records for public viewing and download on the Internet in TIFF format, though days prior to this, her civil attorney Montgomery Blair Sibley had dispatched 54 CD-ROM copies to researchers, activists, and journalists. Senator David Vitter (R-LA) acknowledged on the night of July 9th that he had been a customer of Palfrey's escort service.

Prior legal problems
Palfrey had prior legal problems, including a restraining order from a former boyfriend in 1989, and a 1990 arrest for prostitution. After fleeing to Montana, she was brought back for trial and spent 18 months in jail.[2] After her release, she founded Pamela Martin and Associates. The service openly recruited using The Diamondback, an independent University of Maryland student newspaper, and the Washington City Paper. According to court papers, her escorts charged as much as $300 per hour, and in addition, many have had professional careers. Palfrey continued to reside in California, and may have cleared some US$2 million over 13 years in operation.[2]

In October 2006, United States Postal Inspection Service agents posed as a couple who were interested in buying her home as a means of accessing her property without a warrant.[7][8] Agents froze bank accounts worth over US$500,000, seizing papers relating to money laundering and prostitution charges.[8]

On April 15, 2008 a jury found Palfrey guilty on multiple counts of racketeering and money laundering.

Death
She wrote in August 1991 following an attempt to bring her to trial, "If taken into custody, my physical safety and most probably my very life would be jeopardized. Rape, beating, maiming, disfigurement and more than likely murder disguised in the form of just another jailhouse accident or suicide would await me," said Palfrey in a handwritten letter to the judge accusing the San Diego police vice squad of having a vendetta against her.[9]

"No, I'm not planning to commit suicide," Palfrey told The Alex Jones Show on her last appearance. She also said "that she was at risk of being killed and that authorities would make it look like suicide" and that "if she was found dead it would be murder." "I'm planning on going into court and defending myself vigorously and exposing the government," she said.[10]

On May 1, 2008, Palfrey died in Tarpon Springs, Florida, from what authorities have called as suicide. She was staying with her mother at the time.[1] Palfrey's body was found in a small storage shed attached to her mother's mobile home. She had apparently hanged herself from a beam inside the shed. Tarpon Springs police reported finding handwritten suicide notes near the body.[11]
