The Cyber Tipline.

This is one way to fight back. I guess if anyone objects to this topic they can edit it, or delete it, or move it.

I get an occaisional spam email that I send in. I looked at their website yesterday and it looks as if they have made it a little more logical, with information about Megan's law, etc. I also signed up for a couple of newsletters.

National Center for Missing & Exploited Children

CyberTipline(r) Success Story

April 13, 2005

On February 1, 2004, the CyberTipline received a report from a
registered Internet Service Provider (ISP) concerning an individual who
allegedly posted pornographic images of children. In compliance with
federal law, the ISP provided the CyberTipline with the incident
information, including the allegedly illegal images. An Exploited Child
Unit (ECU) analyst viewed the uploaded files and found what appeared to
be pornographic images depicting young children. The ECU analyst ran a
search on the suspect's Internet protocol (IP) address, found a possible
location in Vienna, VA, and contacted the Bedford County Sheriff
Department's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Detectives
initiated an extensive investigation and traced the suspect's email
address and screen name to a local high school teacher. A search
warrant of the suspect's home and workplace revealed sexually explicit
images of children and a large quantity of compact disks, videos,
pictures, and magazines. On November 1, 2004, the 32 year-old suspect
was arrested at his home by the Bedford County Sheriff's Department, the
Fredericksburg Police Department, and the Virginia State Police for
possession and distribution of child pornography. The suspect taught
earth sciences and coached sports for both boys' and girls' teams. He
has been placed on administrative leave and is being held without bond
at the Rappahannock Regional Jail. The suspect was recently indicted on
125 additional charges for possession of child pornography.
