Know your enemies. I always watch a little bit of FOX news every day. Here's something weird I hadn't heard before.

They had a talking head expert on this morning discussing the horrible murder in Kansas of the pregnant woman. Pat Woodward was introduced as a former federal prosecutor. I found this while googling his name.

"Larry is the one that kept the trains running after 9/11," said Pat Woodward, a former federal prosecutor who left the department in early 2001."

While he was talking FOX displayed a "tag" that said that Woodward was part of an independant investigation into the Chandra Levy case.

If he left the Justice Department in early 2001 and formed an independant investigatory group I wonder why WE haven't heard of it or him before.

Has anyone run into this name in your research?

James

A former federal prosecutor in an independent investigation of Chandra's case? How interesting. Now who could be behind an independent investigation? I'm thinking possibly the Levys and/or Dominick Dunne, anyone else would be mighty interesting. I haven't run across the name before but will keep my eye out for it.

I've never heard of Pat Woodward. For that matter, who is the Larry that was referred to in the quotes?

That's odd, blondie - Woodward is mentioned in the photo caption but not in the article itself.

Thanks for that info, jane. He's a heavy hitter, no doubt. I'm glad to see he's coordinating with the Levy's in an independent review of Chandra's case. Keep a fire lit under the Washington authorities or else it will become a very cold case.

fallout= did the caption say that he was currently conducting an independent investigation????? If so, that seems very odd. He use to be with Billy Martin. Remember that it was reported that the Levys had changed attorneys.

He sure doesn't keep a job very long according to his resume.

oh dear, blondie. He is either misleading people very much or the Levys maintained an investigative relationship with him after switching attorneys. I just have no idea, but my gut feel is he's still leveraging the Levy case as PR value.

Of course, he and others can be involved in an "independent" investigation without the Levys. We are. But the info he provides says for the Levys and I just wonder if he conveniently forgot to mention that it ended some years ago.

I guess that all these investigators think secrecy is the way to operate and that there is something going on that no one knows about, but you have to talk to people to investigate and those people do talk. I can't imagine there's been any investigating worth mentioning going on with not a peep heard about it.

Thanks Jane and all for the information.

So, Woodward worked for Dyer, Ellis with Billy Martin after leaving his job as a federal prosecutor! That explains part of it.

His investigation of the case would include information that the Levy family and possibly the FBI have kept out of the news. He must be the one assigned to supervise the two detectives who found the left-behind leg bone and who earlier searched her apartment. He must have worked closely with Judy Smith who travelled with the Levys and appeared as a spokeswoman for the family.

Definitely someone who would be interesting to talk to!

Thanks again,
James

Blondie,

The caption used a past tense word such as "worked on an independant investigation". I just happened to glance at the screen when they ran it.

I took the quote from an article about Larry Thompson who is being considered as a replacement for John Ashcroft and who would become the first black Attorney General if selected and confirmed. Woodward worked for him and was quoted briefly in an article. I was having trouble bringing up any bio information on Woodward and that was the only factual info I could find (that he was a former prosecutor who resigned in early 2001).

Thanks,
James

Interesting,

He was "Assistant to Attorney General Dick Thornburg" BEFORE he graduated from George Mason law school where he went to night school. That's a pretty big position for a guy without a JD!

and

"His prior government service includes ....(DOJ liaison) for the Bush-Cheney Justice Transition Team."

I still think there's something odd about the way that a high-octane K Street Public Relations firm got involved in the case. I remember that it was the Sund Carrington foundation that suggested Dyer, Ellis and Billy Martin to the Levy family. Usually these firms are strongly partisan in their support of clients. Its either a Republican firm or a Democrat firm. Who else did Dyer, Ellis represent?
