Hi James,
I read several stories about O'Neill. Facinating man. He had lost of great friends and some enemies as well. Lots in DC, according to what I've read. Who could that be?
One of the articles seem to point to Thomas Pickard as O'Neills' "handler". Not official, of course. It was stated that Pickard got O'Neill into the WTC position just a week prior to 9-11. What a coincidence?
Seems O'Neill was as far as he was going to be able to go with the FBI, due to his style. He was not the typical low profile type of agent. And, he had the bad habit of calling a spade a spade. Not healthy, for him anyway.
Quote: | L.A. did you read the story about what led to his resignation from the FBI in the Summer of 2001? He was set up by one of his colleagues and, somehow, the NY Times was used to help put pressure on him to quit. That means someone very high up was involved in getting rid of him. The timing seems very suspicious. It was around the same time that the agents in Phoenix were trying to get headquarter's attention about the flight schools. As we used to say about Chandra- "Somebody knows something". |
Yeah, that was a definite set up. You are talkin about the briefcase incident? You'd think it would be safe in a room full of FBI agents. Just goes to show ya.
I envy you, James, for your information connection in N.Y.
