Story:

The D.C. Metropolitan Police Department are looking for 24-year-old Chandra Levy. Levy was last seen April 30, 2001 about 7:30 p.m. at a Washington Sports Club fitness center on Connecticut Avenue in Washington, D.C. Levy went to the gym to cancel her membership. The receipt of that cancellation was later found in her apartment at 1260 21st Street N.W. An email was sent from Levy's internet account the next morning (May 1, 2001) to her mother at approximately 10:30 a.m. EST.

She has been living in D.C. since September 2000, and was working as an intern at the Federal Bureau of Prison in Washington. Levy was scheduled to return to her home town of Modesto, California to receive her Masters degree from the University of Southern California. Police say when Levy failed to call her parents with her flight information, they became concerned. After several attempts of trying to reach Levy by phone, Levy's parents contacted the D.C. Police Department.

Police say when they searched Levy's apartment, they found her suit case packed, her cell phone, her drivers license and credit cards. As far as they can tell, the only items missing from the apartment were Levy's keys, a check written to her from a relative, and possibly a gold ring. There has been no sign of foul play. Although much attention has been focused on U.S. Congressman Gary Condit -- who has reportedly admitted to having an intimate relationship with Levy -- D.C. Police are still treating this case as a missing person case and have not named any suspects in Levy's disappearance.

Washington D.C. Metropolitan Police have confirmed the death of Chandra Levy. The skeletal remains of the 24-year-old woman were discovered in Washington D.C.'s Rock Creek Park. The discovery of the remains is not a result of America's Most Wanted: America Fights Back.

The Federal Bureau of Prisons intern was last seen on April 30, 2001, leaving the Washington Sports Club fitness center on Connecticut Avenue in Washington, D.C. Chandra left the gym after cancelling her membership. The receipt of that cancellation was later found in her apartment at 1260 21st Street, N.W., Washington, D.C.

She had been living in D.C. since September 2000, and was scheduled to return to her hometown of Modesto, California to receive her Masters degree from the University of Southern California. Police say, when Chandra failed to call her parents with her flight information, they became concerned. After several attempts of trying to reach Chandra by phone, Mr. and Mrs. Levy contacted the Metropolitan Police Department.

After her disappearance, U.S. Congressman Gary Condit admitted to having an intimate relationship with Chandra, but he has denied knowing anything about her disappearance.

On the morning of May 22, 2002, a D.C. Resident was looking for turtles with his dog in the woods of Rock Creek Park. The dog alerted its owner to a human skull. U.S. Park Police and D.C. MPD roped off the area where they found more bones, clothing and other items leading them to believe that the skeleton was likely a female. Later that afternoon, police announced that dental records confirmed that the body was that of Chandra.

Police have yet to find evidence of a homicide, and they are categorizing the case as a death investigation. There are still no suspects in Chandra's disappearance or death.

I had never looked at their archives before. They go back several years. I started out looking for missing persons, including Chandra Levy, but after I posted two messages about Chandra all I could find was Fugitives.

The Fugitives in archives? I guess that means that we have not forgotten them.
