It appears Ingmar Guandique's part in the Chandra Levy saga is over. The prosecutor admits they have insufficient evidence to uphold the conviction.
Should be interesting to see what happens next. Will the case be re-opened? |

Did the FBI's re-interviews of Mr. C's former girlfriends yield new evidence that completely excluded Guandique as the perpetrator?

Or, are the new developments related to evidence that was never investigated or shared with the defense and not made available at Guandique's trial, like the 9-11 call that was made in response to the scream that was heard in Chandra Levy's building the night before the day Chandra officially went missing and which was never provided to the defense for use in Guandique's trial?

Just enter Ingmar Guandique's name in the spaces, then select "case details" and you can view what was discussed in the hearing(s) leading up to the case's dismissal.

The Public Defender shook them all up saying he would be going after Condit, and these people have never wanted to answer questions about Chandra before she disappeared. Did they wait for Congress to leave town before dropping charges? I think that's what they were waiting for.
New info investigated last week? Quite frankly, I don't believe them. Now if it comes to light there really was some new info, I will be glad to be wrong.
I think they didn't even want to think about having to answer questions we've been posing here for 15 years.
I think we have to keep asking and poking what all of a sudden changed everything. Chandra faced same question when she was told to pack up at Bureau of Prisons.

Speaking of which, I was over on Washington Post reading the news and I saw in comments:
Why would anyone intern with the Bureau of Prisons? An ambition to be a prison warden?
paid internship job in PR office. Pretty high profile. Was said to have been acquired with a phone call from California. That and the way she was asked to leave a few days before she disappeared should raise lots of questions. Nobody's asking, and nobody is answering.
"Justice" in DC doesn't want to go there.

Condit supposedly had an alibi. But if they dont know when she died, what good is the alibi
Condit has no alibi or anything approximating one. He has no alibi from 12:50 to 6:30. Google Chaper Alibi in Murder on a Horse Trail.

Regarding Condit: A few more words: Investigated and dismissed as the person who murdered this woman.
actually you'll find he didn't cooperate so wasn't investigated evn though DC Police tried their hardest to clear him. He has no alibi from 12:50 to 6:30 and there is literally nothing that clears him and everything that involves him.

I was going to post this same thought tonight when I got home from work but Trochilus has said it better in Washington Post comments. I am going to quote here:
Trochilus
11:43 AM EST
The overall story seems questionable. An actress, who moved into a hotel in Washington, D.C. (Babs Proller), somehow befriends a male neighbor living in the building, who had reportedly helped her with her dog as she was moving in to those new digs. Fine so far.
But then the story begins to go off the rails. Somehow, she "quickly learns" he is a five-time convicted felon and gang-banger who had spent years in prison. But that does not scare her off. Instead, she seemingly nurtures their "budding" relationship, and proceeds to spend hours engaging in private conversations with him. At some point, she even begins regularly recording him privately -- i.e., unbeknownst to him. He eventually reveals to her that he was a 'jail-house snitch' who had cooked up a story, and had testified accordingly, giving false evidence in a murder trial that helped convict a fellow prisoner (at some prison in Kentucky) of the commission of a famous murder, one which took place way back in May of 2001.
But Babs doesn't go directly to the authorities. Oh, no! Instead, she goes to the young murdered girl's mother (Sandra Levy) and tells her, apparently relying on Levy to go to the authorities! Bear in mind that Chandra Levy's mother wants closure in this case -- one would think that she hardly would be motivated to go to the authorities and tell them that the man who was about to be retried for her daughter's murder, was likely innocent (of that crime), and that she now believes there is good testimonial proof available showing that their prime evidence in their case against him is false, and could blow up in their faces!
Why would Proller go to Chandra Levy's mother with this information, and rely on her to go to the authorities? This is explosive information which could potentially put Proller in very serious danger with her "new best friend " -- a five-times convicted felon who is now at serious risk for being slapped with a new indictment for perjury! |

I would add, how did a feared (San Francisco) Bay area heavily tattooed gangleader as the Washington justice system like to hyperventilate end up in a Washington hotel helping an actress carry her dog or something upstairs?
Well, he'd be being put up by DC Justice system for his scheduled upcoming re-testimony about the "cellmate confession" from Guandique, wouldn't he?
And neither the DC Justice system nor Morales wanted to go through that act again.
So we have a "confession" from Morales secretly tape recorded about lying about another "confession" and whew, just in time for Congress to leave town Susan Levy is notified by a House of Cards actress that Morales was lying when he said Guandique confessed to him about Chandra.
And so Susan notified the prosecutors and oops, we have to cancel the trial. We can't prove that Guandique killed Chandra. We don't even have the lying cellmate anymore which is the only thing that we rigged up for this kangaroo court conviction.
I know Susan got played, there's a reasonable chance the House of Cards actress got played, and Morales and his conniving DC prosecutor friends did the playing.
Now watch them close the books on Chandra's murder because they're out of lies.
