Up above I refer to no case made for Chandra jogging in Rock Creek Park to be murdered by Guandique.

Here I lay out exactly why there is zero case that Chandra was jogging in Rock Creek Park and a clear case that a message she was waiting for mentioned Rock Creek Park.

The outline is roughly:

Chandra never jogged outdoors. Her friends in DC knew she didn't jog and considered it dangerous.

Chandra worked out at a gym on DuPont Circle. She tried to terminate her membership the evening before, but was told she had to give 30 days notice. So not only did she have 30 more days in DC, she discussed with the manager using up the remaining 30 days at associate clubs at home in California when she returned.

Chandra preached safety to women. She always carried protection devices, had a criminal justice undergraduate degree, was a police department volunteer back home in Modesto, and took defensive protection training to respond if attacked. Her entire being centered around the dangers lurking for women.

Not one female poilcewoman, prosecutor, or reporter has ever taken up my Chandra Walk in the Park Challenge. has never even been discussed how she would jog to Rock Creek Park and back.

And should one of these women consider this challenge, which is shameful to contend Chandra did this when they wouldn't dare to attempt it, make sure you're wearing what Chandra was wearing and carry only what she had. Very little.

Maybe the male policemen, prosecutors, and reporters who state she was jogging in Rock Creek Park enjoy the prospects of envisioning heavy breasted Chandra in tights and a sports bra jogging along the road in Washington DC. Now wouldn't that be a sight.

But you won't see these men discuss how she would accomplish it either. They just denigrate her memory with whatever is convenient to explain Chandra's presence down the side of the tallest hill in Washington DC in a deep forest. Next to the most convenient picnic table pullover secluded in that forest for dragging a body down the side of that hill.

That would be the other point. Chandra didn't jog, joggers don't run on the top of the tallest hill in Washington DC, but bodies found in Rock Creek Park through the years were placed there, not people passing through and murdered. The DC police initially said of the area that Chandra was found, "this is not a place you will find joggers".

Then there's the psychological aspects of Chandra at the time of her disappearance. Chandra had been checking her phone for messages every few minutes for a couple of days, ever since she had called her aunt on Sunday and left a message that she had big news.

Anyone who has seen a person very concerned about getting a message for multiple days knows that that person doesn't go off alone without a phone for hours without having got the message or given up on getting a message.

Was her behavior that of a girl giving up on getting the message she was waiting for? Someone spent all morning searching on her boyfriend on the internet and then toward the end of signing off searched on Rock Creek Park. The police and prosecutors and some reporters say this indicates she was going to walk or jog to Rock Creek Park.

But what the Rock Creek Park information she saw was a rough green blob of a map of Rock Creek Park, no detail whatsoever. And any unbiased analysis of her behavior would find it much more likely that she had recieved her message and there was a mention of going to Rock Creek Park to talk. Her boyfirend's wife had just come into town, another issue of great urgency for Chandra, and she would not be able to go to her boyfriend's apartment to talk as usual. And there was lots to talk about.

But just as there is no indication that Chandra was jogging in Rock Creek Park, in fact indications that that would be a disservice to Chandra's memory to claim it, there is no indication that Chandra was the person on her computer that morning searching on her boyfriend.

No one had seen her since leaving her sports club the previous evening. No one had seen her come home. No one had seen her leave. No one had talked to her by phone that morning that will admit it, and no one exchanged emails with her. One email on flight fares sent by an airline was forwarded from her computer to her parents in California, but there was no message on it.

And there was a scream very early that morning, and a call to 911 from a resident in her building who heard the scream.

There is more of a case for Chandra disappearing at 4:30 in the morning with a scream as there is that Chandra chucked aside everything she held dear in life to run into a forest on a horse trail as the DC prosecutors and police and yes even some reporters want you to believe.

We may not find justice for Chandra in death, but at least let's honor the integrity of her life. Think on Chandra, feel her last days, and know the truth in your heart. The prosecutors are counting on people not knowing the facts about Chandra.

They are not interested in justice for Chandra.

and to add to that, here are some thoughts from long time poster peripeteia:

Reposting Susan Levy's quote to reporters:

'I am a mother lion and like mother lions, they go into their intuitive stomach part and their mind and just in an intuitive feeling, I feel that [doubt],' she said. 'I know that my daughter - someone screamed in her apartment before the time she went missing. I know she's not a jogger in a park, I also know it seems very suspicious that she would be carrying nothing as far as identification or spray, as she usually carries the spray.'

We've been saying this for years. Yes Susan doesn't get what Chandra would be doing in the park where she was found. Also, she is not convinced Chandra would be jogging. Susan is perplexed why Chandra would not have her mace spray or identification with her. Dr. Levy made some comment when Chandra was first missing regarding the keys that were left in her apartment, the ones with the Pepper Spray; he found this odd.

It seems very unlikely Chandra was jogging with tennis shoes, and jogging bra and leotards in Rock Creek Park. Sounds like Chandra was wearing what she wore to the gym the night before. There is no evidence that would place Chandra in Rock Creek Park other than her search on the internet, and seems unlikely she would have gone jogging there, gone anywhere else except to the gym dressed as she was found in the park. This point of issue is what does not tie Guandique to Chandra's murder. What would bring Chandra to the park. This is one of several compelling questions in Chandra's disappearance and murder.

Just thinking out loud, of how Chandra could possibly end up jogging in the park, dressed as she was the next day in gym or exercise clothes, sometime after 1:00 pm, both baffling and unlikely.

end quote

thanks peripeteia. excellent points. And her parents were right.

A Talk edit I just made on the Wikipedia article on Chandra:

Periodicaly I check this article for accuracy. Given the amount of new material it's very accurate and well done. Two minor problems.

1- "Levy was last seen on May 1, 2001." This is a minor quibble. She was not seen that day. It is normally described as she disappeared on May 1, 2001, that based on activity on her computer that morning. She was last seen the previous evening at the gym. So it should read "Chandra was last seen on April 30, 2001." Although the May 1, 2001 of her disappearance is important. She just wasn't seen that day though.

2- "The last search at 12:24 p.m. was for the location of the Pierce-Klingle Mansion,[7] a historic house in Rock Creek Park that is used as the park's administrative office.[8]"

This is completely incorrect. The time comes from the Washington Post reporting, specifically "Her last search was at 12:24 pm." The sentence before that the Washington Post reported the specifics of obtaining a web page with Rock Creek Park administrative office. The specifics was accessing washingtonpost.com "Entertainment Guide".

In addition this took place at 11:33 a.m., an hour earlier. McClatchy reported that first Guandique trial forensics testimony (Dombowski) stated the last search was for information on French province of Alsace-Lorraine. In addition, while the last search may have taken place at 12:24 p.m., she didn't log off until about 1 p.m.

The Wikipedia entry is written as if last thing Chandra did was a search related to Rock Creek Park and ended up being found there. It is entirely unacceptable. The last search on Alsace-Lorraine is actually more instructive.

Thanks for any help getting this information corrected. Through the years the editors here have been very savvy on this case and can ascertain better than me what would be preferable. Ralphdaugherty (talk) 06:14, 22 November 2015 (UTC)

Concerning earlier suggestions about framing Guandique for this murder, Guandique had yet to assault the first jogger in Rock Creek Park when Chandra disappeared. If there was a planned attempt to link Chandra's murder to Guandique's assaults on Beach Road, she wouldn't have been hidden hundreds of feet below Ridge Road over a massive hill from Beach Road.

She would have been dumped as most bodies are dumped in Rock Creek Park, fairly obvious to see and in this case along Beach Road off of a jogging path. That's in fact the scenario the police want to present but can't quite get there with the facts.

Another hearing on Guandique retrial.

What was learned -

DC Prosecutors are recalling Morales in retrial.

Well, they have to. Morales made up story of a "cellmate confession" was the bogus Justice Department's entire case against Guandique, and I will add against Chandra and women and everything women do to try to stay safe, things that Chandra preached, things that the despicable DC Prosecutors would never do themselves because, well, they're just liars, not crazy.

Public defenders tell judge that Condit misled the jury under oath.

The specific misleading was not identified but presumably is an indication that the defense will call Condit this time and get some clarification.

One thing I always say about Condit, you can't prove the latest version is a lie but you sure know all the previous versions had to be.

One thing has remained constant, he has never answered a personal question about Chandra under oath. Ever. He's really got that avoiding perjury thing down pat. All the versions of stories were told to police and reporters, only Fifth Amendment under oath.

Next hearing is January 20.

Defense attorneys drag Gary Condit back into Chandra Levy case
By Michael Doyle
January 20, 2016

We would love to know that we had the entire Gary Condit file, defense attorney Eugene Ohm said.

Well, Murder on a Horse Trail: The Disappearance of Chandra Levy wouldn't be a bad start. If it's not in there, it's still a secret.

Now this is interesting:

Defense attorneys are also asking for notes from any law enforcement interviews with former Congressmen Richard Armey of Texas and John Doolittle of California.

These are individuals Mr. Condit says he was meeting with on one of the important days in question, Ohm said.

end quote

One of the important days in question? What I find interesting about this is what I had to say about it in chapter Alibi:

Just before Chandra logged off the internet for the last time and disappeared, Condit went into a private meeting with Vice President Dick Cheney in Cheney's office he keeps in the House of Representatives to discuss the California energy crisis, that crisis of a deregulation experiment that was bringing down Condit's ally, Governor Gray Davis.

Cheney's press secretary, Juleanna Glover Weisss, said the meeting happened between 12:30 p.m. and 12:50 p.m., "at Condit's request." The Newport is just ten blocks from the Capitol, and Chandra logged off ten minutes after Condit left the meeting. What a coincidence. The D.C. police say Condit is not a suspect. Surely Condit has an alibi to not be a suspect? We will see.

...the day after Chandra disappeared, three days before the Levys would call him and tell him Chandra was missing, he sought out an ex-girlfriend reporter to talk to her about the Republicans reaching out to him, for a meeting he had requested, that took place just as Chandra was logging off for the last time.

Michael Isikoff of Newsweek cites "sources familiar with the meeting", vague enough to be from Condit or the Republicans, as saying that Cheney and two aides met with Condit "at the suggestion of Republican leaders". Weiss the press secretary described it to CNN as a typical meeting.

A 12:30 pm lunchtime meeting with Cheney without lunch sounds like Cheney was accomodating a last minute request from a critical Congressional vote, Condit, for a meeting with him, possibly made by Condit during the previous day, Monday, when Condit was at a White House lunch. Was Isikoff's source a representative of one of those Republican leaders or of Condit? How long in advance was the meeting requested? Is there a Republican leader who says he sought an urgent meeting between Condit and Cheney? Was there another member of Congress from California who Cheney also met with for the same urgent reason, or were they just "reaching out" to Condit?

Did Condit usually meet with Republican leaders such as the Vice President and aides without any of his own staff as he did for that meeting? Was Cheney aware who the Republican leaders were who requested it? If Republican leaders requested it, wouldn't he need to know the specific agenda to address to Condit? Or did he, in fact, come to listen to Condit, because there was no Republican leaders asking for a meeting?

end quote

I am now wondering if Cheney's "two aides" were Congressmen Richard Armey of Texas and John Doolittle of California.

Chapter Alibi lays out that there is no alibi. Condit requested a lunchtime meeting with Cheney which occurred just before Chandra logged off the internet for last time and never heard from again.

Condit's first statement to police, the one that turned out to be "not ready to go" when ABC got a hold of it and posted it, said that Condit "returned" from the meeting at 3pm (but was never seen). The meeting was over at 12:50. The next time Condit is accounted for was at 6:30pm for a non-binding vote.

Perhaps these Congressmen can shed some light on that meeting and just how inspired Condit was to request a high level meeting at a time an alibi would be expected.

An alibi that doesn't exist.
