The mystery of missing 3 month pregnant wife Erin Corwin of a Marine who left to scout a campsite park on June 28, 2014 for her and her mom is still ongoing. Her husband is not a suspect in her disappearance. LE is treating as a critical missing persons case at this time.

Lance Cpl. Jonathan Corwin said there was nothing out of the ordinary when his 19-year-old pregnant wife left their California home for a vast national park nine days ago -- sparking an all-out search for the missing woman Tuesday using "every resource possible," authorities told FoxNews.com.

Erin Corwin, who is three months pregnant, was last last seen around 7 a.m. on June 28 at the couple's Twentynine Palms home as she was setting out to explore Joshua Tree National Park, her Marine husband told investigators with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

Jonathan Corwin reported his wife missing the next day. Police located her 2013 Toyota Corolla in Twentynine Palms on June 30 but declined to say whether any potential evidence had been removed from the vehicle.

Corporal Randy Naquin, public affairs officer with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, told FoxNews.com that "we're utilizing every resource we have" in locating Corwin, including canine and helicopter units as well as search and rescue teams with expertise in tracking. More than 50 volunteers scoured the area for Corwin over the weekend.

"We're not naming any persons of interest or suspects until we're convinced a crime has been committed," Naquin said. "Right now we're treating this as a critical missing person case."

Note from me-

Make note-- though her husband is not a suspect, or POI, her car was found on the base.

Erin's husband, Jonathan, reported her missing on June 29, and speculation has been made about why he waited a full day to alert the police or family members. DeeAnna says there is no way he could be involved, saying the marriage was happy. "She's so close with her mom and she's never mentioned even something minor like a fight," DeeAnna said. "Erin isn't the type to filter herself. She's an open book."

Erin's mother Lore Heavilin only learned her daughter was pregnant after Erin went missing.

Why did he wait a day to report his preg. wife missing? She is preg. after all and in the park looking for a campsite? Anyone know? Any guesses here?
Could be innocent but just doesn't look good to me- maybe I am jaded...

Let us pray Erin walked away on her own w/ a friend and her /husband had a spat. I tend to doubt this as she was pregnant.

Let us pray the search warrants turn up some evidence and the witness statements be helpful.

The search for a Marine's missing wife continues with a witness claiming he saw the pregnant woman on the day she vanished and police obtaining search warrants for their investigation.

Erin Corwin — whose 20th birthday was July 15 — left her Southern California home in Twentynine Palms on June 28. She had she was going to scout out nearby Joshua Tree National Park for an upcoming trip with her mother. She didn't return and her husband, Lance Cpl. Jonathan Corwin, reported her missing the next day.

But an alleged witness told KFMB he saw Corwin that morning get out of her car and climb into a red, compact sedan driven by a man.

"They were just sitting and chatting. If she wanted to get out of the car and say, ‘I don't want to be in this car,' she could have,” Michael Beasley told the station.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff's office has said Corwin's disappearance is "suspicious" and "does not appear to be a voluntary." She was reportedly three months pregnant when she disappeared.

I do not want to spread gossip esp about a missing woman but she may have been having an affair and be pregnant by another Marine. His wife may have found out. As it seems, the wife was arrested for having a destructive device. He was also arrested. It is not clear what may have taken place yet.
Erin has not been found yet.

A recently discharged Marine who volunteered at a horse ranch with Erin Corwin, the missing pregnant wife of another California-based Marine, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a destructive device, authorities said Monday.

A press release issued by the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department didn't say whether the cases of Christopher Brandon Lee, 24, and Erin Corwin, 20, are connected, however a probable cause affidavit obtained by CBS affiliate KFMB indicates Lee, who is described as the Corwins' neighbor, had been questioned in connection with the 20-year-old's disappearance.

The affidavit, which sought a warrant to search a horse ranch in Yucca Valley where both Corwin and Lee volunteered, says Lee initially told authorities that he and his wife only knew Corwin as an acquaintance and said he hadn't spoken with her in months. However, another neighbor and a friend of Corwin later told authorities that Corwin and Lee were romantically involved.

Jessica Trenthan, Corwin's friend in Tennessee, told authorities that Corwin may be pregnant with Lee's child and that Lee was worried if his wife Nicole discovered the pregnancy, she would divorce him and keep him from their child, the affidavit says.

Lee, then a Marine corporal, was arrested July 4 after a search warrant was served at the Yucca Valley ranch and was released on bail two days later, the San Bernardino Sheriff's Department said in a statement on Monday.

"It is highly likely Erin could have been harmed by an unknown firearm," the affidavit says. "Sometime after Erin left with Lee, her phone was de-activated (turned off). Detectives believe if Erin was injured and left at an undisclosed location, she would not [be] able to call for help."

Only news is police are unsure if searching for crime scene, (hush hush) or if she left. I'm sure it is a crime scene. We are following this story daily. Also note, she was in the desert too, there may be many areas to search. Our thoughts are with Erin and family.

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. — Law enforcement officials say they have new locations to comb for clues in the search for Erin Corwin, a pregnant Marine wife who vanished three weeks ago near the southern California desert Marine base of Twentynine Palms.

San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department deputies already have searched broad swathes of open desert, several homes, a Yucca Valley horse farm and at least four cars in the ongoing investigation.

"We are looking for a crime scene," said Leland Boldt, captain of San Bernardino's Specialized Investigation Division, in a press release. The sheriff's department refused to describe the new areas that would be searched.

Although deputies are looking for "potential evidence of foul play," the department also said there is not enough evidence to rule out the possibility that Corwin ran off on her own accord and may be "voluntarily missing."

Marine's Missing Pregnant Wife May Have Hidden Many Secrets

Snip
Since 19-year-old Erin Corwin went missing more than four weeks ago, mystery continues to surround her disappearance – even as secrets she may have been keeping from her family are revealed.

"We have a responsibility to conduct a thorough investigation to determine if she's a victim of foul play or if she's voluntarily missing," Jodi Miller, spokesperson for the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, tells PEOPLE. "She has not been located."

As the search for Erin continues, questions surround the nature of her relationship with her neighbor, former Marine Cpl. Christopher Lee.

Erin and her husband, Marine Cpl. Jon Corwin, had been living on base in Twentynine Palms, California, for less than a year when, in an effort to make new friends, the young couple started hanging out with their neighbors Christopher and Nichole Lee.

But the friendship ended as quickly as it started. Last fall, Nichole and Erin, 19, often rode horses at the White Rock Horse Rescue ranch in nearby Yucca Valley.

"After February, they never came together," owner Isabel Megli tells PEOPLE. "[Nichole] never said a word."

On June 28, Erin – who was nearly two months pregnant – told her husband she was heading to Joshua Tree National Park to check out scenic places for her and her mother, who was expected to arrive the following week, to visit. She never returned home and her husband called police the following day.

While more than 60 volunteers searched hundreds of square miles of scorched terrain around the park, detectives spoke with a childhood friend of Erin's who forwarded texts to police suggesting Erin and Christopher were having an affair and the baby could possibly be his, according to an affidavit.

At first, Christopher denied knowing much about Erin, but after being questioned again by police, he admitted to kissing Erin but nothing more.

"Lee stated his wife knew he and Erin were becoming too close," according to the affidavit.

More on the couple's relationship and the day Erin Corwin went missing is available in this week's issue of PEOPLE, on newsstands Friday

Search teams are planning to make a "big push" in the search for missing Marine wife Erin Corwin this weekend, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department and a post on a Facebook page run by the 20-year-old Twentynine Palms woman's family.

"Large numbers of searchers will be out all day Saturday and Sunday as they continue to look for her," a post added to the page around 6:30 a.m. Friday said. "Please pray that the detectives and search teams are searching in the correct areas and that Erin will be found this weekend! Thank you all for your continued support and prayers!"

The sheriff's department confirmed Friday that it will be conducting more searches this weekend.

-- The body of the missing, pregnant wife of a U.S. Marine has been found deep in an abandoned mine shaft in Southern California, where her husband had been stationed, and Alaska authorities have arrested her alleged lover on suspicion of homicide.

The remains of Erin Corwin were found Saturday 140 feet down a mine shaft on federal land near Twentynine Palms after authorities spent nearly two months searching 300 square miles in the remote area east of Los Angeles, San Bernardino County Sheriff John McMahon said. Corwin was 19 when she disappeared, the sheriff said.

Her remains were identified Sunday through dental records, he said.

Her alleged lover and former neighbor, Christopher Brandon Lee, was arrested around 9 p.m. Sunday in Anchorage, Alaska, on suspicion of homicide under an extradition warrant from California, said Jennifer Castro, a spokesman for the Anchorage Police Department.

Murder charges were filed Tuesday against a man accused of killing the pregnant wife of a Marine in California.

Erin Corwin, 19 and three months pregnant, had been missing since June 28 after she said she was going to Joshua Tree National Park to scout trails. Over the weekend, searchers found her body about 140 feet down a mine shaft.

Her former neighbor, Christopher Lee, 24, was arrested Sunday in Alaska. He is awaiting extradition to California.

Christopher Lee was arrested in Anchorage, Alaska on August 17 in connection with the death of Erin Corwin.

Christopher Lee was arrested in Anchorage, Alaska on August 17 in connection with the death of Erin Corwin.

He faces a murder charge and the special circumstance allegation of "lying in wait," which means he could face life in prison without parole or death, if found guilty, according to San Bernardino County District Attorney Michael Ramos.

Sad to know he had pre-planned the murder of his lover and how to dispose of her body. Lee planned a trip with Erin to kill her to cover up the affair and her possible pregnancy from his wife.
Tests are pending to confirm if she was pregnant. If she was, more charges will be filled.

Erin Corwin Murder: Suspected Killer Admits He Searched for 'How to Dispose'

http://www.people.com/article/christopher-lee-erin-corwin-murder-dispose-human-body

Snip
Christopher Lee, the former Marine accused of murdering Erin Corwin, told investigators that he searched the Internet for "how to dispose of a human body," arrest records reveal.

The revelation is just part of the evidence that San Bernardino County prosecutors have amassed against Lee, 24, who police contend was having an affair with Corwin and killed her out of fear his wife would learn of the relationship.

Several days before her disappearance, Corwin, 19, told a friend that she and Lee were planning on taking a "special" trip together, according to court documents.

An additional murder charge might be filed against Lee pending the outcome of Corwin's autopsy, which won't be finalized for the next four to six weeks.

"There's still an ongoing investigation to determine if she was pregnant at the time of the murder," San Bernardino District Attorney Michael Ramos tells PEOPLE. "If we find that to be true and the fetus was far enough along, there could be another kind of murder charge filed."
