She has recently been spotted a few times in Las Vegas. She is known to be biopolar according to a few articles. Racial problems surround this case as do problems with LE. Parents just filed a lawsuit against LE over the case. One must read the story for all the facts.

Let us pray she is alive and just confused.

Police say missing California woman may be alive in Las Vegas

A California woman missing for nearly a year and declared dead by a court may still be alive and living in the Las Vegas, Nevada, area, detectives from Los Angeles said Thursday.

Investigators have spent about six weeks checking out a high-school classmate's report that he saw Mitrice Richardson at a hotel casino, and are "unable to show that it is not a good lead," Los Angeles police Capt. Kevin McClure said. And detectives have talked to several witnesses since then who believe seen her in the area, he said.

"It is not a verified sighting of her here, but we feel good enough to come up here and spend a good deal of time to get the information out to the community that we believe she might be here," McClure told reporters at a news conference in Las Vegas.

But Richardson's mother, who is suing the Los Angeles County Sheriff's department over her daughter's disappearance, cast doubt on the report. Latice Sutton told HLN's "Issues with Jane Velez-Mitchell" that the man who reported the sighting hasn't seen her daughter for a decade.

Last month, Sutton sued Los Angeles County and several sheriff's officials for wrongful death and negligence in her daughter's disappearance, according to court documents. Sutton argued that the sheriff's department failure to administer psychiatric or medical evaluations and the fact that Richardson was released "alone in an unfamiliar area without money, a cellular phone or means of transportation amounts to negligence." The lawsuit seeks unspecified monetary damages.

Steve Whitmore, a spokesman for the sheriff's department, told CNN in September that the decision to release Richardson was made because "she was not intoxicated, she didn't exhibit any mental issues, so when we were done running her fingerprints and criminal history, then we are obligated by law to release her from custody."

He also has said that a female jailer "offered to her to stay the night. She could have stayed, but she wanted to leave."

Richardson, who has bipolar disorder, vanished on Sept. 16 after she was briefly detained at a sheriff's station near Malibu, Calif., for failing to pay a restaurant bill. She walked away from the station because her car was impounded.

The police and sheriff's officials said Thursday that a $25,000 reward is being offered by the City of Malibu and Los Angeles County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas for information about Richardson.

Sheriff's Spokesman Steve Whitmore Doubts Bones Belong To Missing Woman Mitrice Richardson

A sheriff's spokesman said late Monday it was unlikely that remains found in a remote canyon near Malibu belong to missing twentysomething Mitrice Richardson, even as her family descended on the sheriff's Lost Hills station in search of answers.

The find of bones in an unincorporated area called Monte Nido was reported about 1 p.m. Monday after Park Rangers making a routine check of a canyon used to grow marijuana in the past came across the remains, according to authorities and television news reports. The area is about five miles from the sheriff's Lost Hills station. Still, spokesman Steve Whitmore said he doubted the bones belonged to Richardson:

"We have no idea who it is, but there's nothing to indicate that it is Richardson,'' Whitmore said. "We've had reports of several other missing people out there.''

Sidenote: Her mom and dad are both suing the Police separately.

Sadly, they made an ID on the bones. It is Mitrice.

May she rest in peace.

Story to post later.

I have nothing to add to the article except another story with an unhappy ending that results with a dead young girl. Let us hope they catch the criminal soon so justice can be served.

Rest in Peace and prayers to the family

Badly-decomposed remains found in Malibu Creek State Park have been identified as those of missing Cal State Fullerton graduate Mitrice Richardson.

Coroner's officials told KTLA that the 25 year old's death is being treated as a homicide, and cannot release any further information on the case because it is under police security hold.

Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca confirmed on Thursday morning that the remains are those of Richarson.

The remains were found about 2 and a half miles from the last credible sighting of Richardson.

Mitrice's mother would like her body exhumed as she feels Mitrice was murdered.

Sutton cited several circumstances about her daughter's skeletal remains and mummified arm that made the mother believe her daughter was murdered.

Sutton said the mummified arm was bent in a way that would made if difficult for floodwater or other acts of nature to wash clothing off the body.

Richardson's bra was found unsnapped and her pants unzipped several hundred feet away from the remains, the mother said.

Her underwear, shoes and shirt were never recovered, the mother said.
