Ex-'Survivor' Producer's Wife Went to Mexico to Save Marriage, Sisters Say

The sisters of a woman found dead at a swanky Mexican resort said she had traveled there to save her marriage to a reality TV producer identified by authorities as a suspect in the case.
Carla Burgos told The Associated Press the trip had been planned by her brother-in-law Bruce Beresford-Redman, even though such arrangements were usually made by her sister Monica Beresford-Redman.
Burgos last spoke to her sister four days before her body was found in a sewer at the Moon Palace Resort in Cancun, Mexico.
"She went to this trip to try to save her marriage, to bring happiness to her family and she (wound) up dead," sister Jeane Burgos said Monday.
The sisters said the marriage was crumbling as a result of a long-term affair Bruce Beresford-Redman was having with another woman.

Jeane Burgos said she had grown suspicious when her brother-in-law said her sister had left her cell phone behind and the couple's two children in his care — both out of character for Monica Beresford-Redman.
The sisters and their attorney Alison Triessl declined to elaborate.
Mexican authorities said Bruce Beresford-Redman remained a suspect in his wife's death but has not been charged.
The former "Survivor" producer and co-creator of "Pimp My Ride" has been barred from leaving Mexico until the death investigation is complete |

Ex-'Survivor' Producer Criticized Wife in Emails to Mistress
NYPost.com
The high-powered producer was having an affair for months before his wife's death.
snip
former "Survivor" producer suspected of strangling his beautiful wife during a Mexican vacation raged to his mistress in a series of e-mails that he was being barred from his young kids and taken for all his money, it was revealed yesterday.
"She has denied me access to my children (and continues to do so), she has shut me out of my home, she has liquidated all my money," Bruce Beresford-Redman ranted in one of the e-mails released yesterday by RadarOnline.com.
The angry messages, evidence of a twisted love triangle, were sent in the weeks before Monica Beresford-Redman, 41, was found murdered in a sewer on April 8 outside the couple's Cancun hotel.

There's some new details emerging in this story and I will report them as soon as I get all the facts.
The victim's sister is saying he bought insurance on his dead wife before he killed her. The atty. is stating the children were the one's who would get it. More to come as I dig up the facts.

Mexico sends arrest petition for TV producer charged in wife's death
Alan Duke, CNN

Three weeks after a Mexican judge ordered the arrest of Bruce Beresford-Redman in connection with the death of his wife, the reality TV producer is still living free with his children in Los Angeles, California.
The United States has Mexico's petition, but the U.S. State Department would not confirm when the extradition of Beresford-Redman to Mexico will begin, Mexican officials said.
Quintana Roo, Mexico, Attorney General Francisco Alor said he has a "very concrete" case against the former "Survivor" producer in the death of Monica Beresford-Redman at a Cancun resort.

Note: Skipper has another thread running on this story so make sure you all read both of them, thanks Goz.
-----------------------------------------------------
I'm happy they are not giving him bail as we all know he would pick up and flee. This case is taking forever due to the paperwork and international laws that have to be followed/filed. He would be long gone. Excuses of course were made that he has to see and be with his kids while they grieve but it is his fault they are in that state.

Los Angeles, California (CNN) -- Reality TV producer Bruce Beresford-Redman must stay in jail while his lawyers fight his extradition to Mexico on a charge that he murdered his wife at a Cancun resort, a federal judge ruled Monday.
U.S. Magistrate Suzanne Segal denied Beresford-Redman's bail request, finding that there was a risk he would flee while the extradition process, which could take months, is under way in Los Angeles.
A Mexican judge signed an "aggravated homicide" warrant last May accusing Beresford-Redman of killing his wife, Monica Beresford-Redman, "by asphyxiating her" at the Moon Palace Resort on April 5. Her body was found in a resort sewer on April 8.
It took six months for the paperwork to wind its way through law enforcement and diplomatic channels before he was arrested at his Rancho Palos Verdes, California, home last month.

Looks like they may have enough evidence on Bruce to get a murder conviction. Sounds to me like he beat and strangled his poor wife to death over a fight over their children. I hope they can get him to Mexico soon and try this SOB.

Mexico working to extradite 'Survivor' producer

Mexican investigators believe reality TV producer Bruce Beresford-Redman struck his wife's head with a stick, bat or metal tube before strangling her and dumping her body at a Cancun resort last year, according to documents filed this week in his extradition case.
Beresford-Redman, who was once a producer on TV's "Survivor," is in jail in Los Angeles while he fights extradition from the United States to Mexico. Prosecutors in Cancun want to try him for the murder of his wife, Monica Burgos Beresford-Redman.

Investigators said the suspect had scratches on his fingers, neck, ear and leg and it "could be inferred that they were inflicted during a brawl," the summary says.
A concierge at the Moon Palace Resort told investigators that when she called Beresford-Redman about noise complaints from a neighboring room, he explained he was arguing with his wife about their two children's behavior, the document says.
