Hi everyone! Yes, Skipper, and over the past few years I have heard of a number of people disappearing from cruise ships - it's quite a scandal. And frequently these cases are not well investigated because of confusion over jurisdiction, small size of police force at many of the ports, etc. _________________ "There is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known."

I have read about people missing from cruise ships as well- but in this case, Amy Bradley was missing from the Aruba area.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/8143921/ns/msnbc_tv-msnbc_tv_live
Excerpt:
Natalee Holloway isn't the first young American woman to disappear in the Caribbean. Seven years ago, then-23-year-old Amy Bradley went missing while on a Caribbean cruise with her family. On March 24, 1998, Bradley was seen by her father at about 5:30 a.m. on her cabin balcony. At 6 a.m., her father awoke and Amy Bradley was gone.

Excerpt:
The Bradleys say three men who worked on the ship became friendly with Amy and wanted to take her to a bar in Aruba, Carlos 'n Charlie's -- the same bar where Holloway was seen eating and dancing the night she disappeared. Holloway never showed up for her flight the next morning, and police found her passport and packed bags in her hotel room.

Wow. The time seems odd - so early in the morning. Do you know whether the ship was in port? _________________ "There is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known."

Must have been docked in Aruba-
http://abcnews.go.com/US/story?id=831761&page=2
Excerpt:
Ron Bradley said he awoke at 6 a.m. and saw that Amy was not in her room or on the balcony. He searched for her for approximately an hour before he contacted ship security officials. When the ship arrived in Curacao, the Bradley family pleaded with the captain not to lower the gangplank and let its 2,000 passengers off until officials conducted a massive search of the cruise liner.
end excerpt
If you read the article, Brad and his sister Amy were on the ship just hours before the father (Ron) found Amy missing.
Evidently, they raise the gangplank at a certain time and those onboard stay there and
likewise no one can board the ship.
That would mean that Amy may have been in a different area of the ship? Or, she could have left the ship prior to the gangplank being raised to return to the company of the men that she met on the ship?
The answer then would be the ship had been docked in Aruba and left at some point, heading to
Curacao. _________________ A nation of sheep will beget a government of wolves

What about her dental records? Had she gotten her wisdom-teeth removed? |

I have no idea.
Usually we get that sort of information when they explain why it is or is not a victim as they did in Natalee's case.

Sorry, about my questionable grammar (gotten?)! The "Amy Bradley" story sounds like another fascinating mystery. Wow! |

I just read this about van der Sloot--
Joran van der Sloot plans to plead guilty to killing a young Peruvian woman he met gambling but will argue temporary insanity in a bid to significantly shorten his sentence, his defense lawyer said Monday.
I will look for further updates this evening. Having a few computer problems.

I would like to know how frequent are his bouts with temporary insanity. _________________ "There is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known."

I don't find him legally insane or insane in anyway.
He is morally insane, morally corrupt. Garbage. Well aware of his behavior. Just a spoiled brat who wants, or wanted what he wanted when he wanted and when he couldn't get it, he killed or was brutal with others. I am sure he has left a trail of bodies behind. I hope they uncover all the women he may have harmed so the families know where their children/relatives have been.

Lawyer: Van der Sloot to plead temporary insanity
Published March 07, 2011
Associated Press

LIMA, Peru – Joran van der Sloot plans to plead guilty to killing a young Peruvian woman he met gambling but will argue temporary insanity in a bid to significantly shorten his sentence, his defense lawyer said Monday.
Van der Sloot, the key suspect in the 2005 disappearance of U.S. teenager Natalee Holloway on the Caribbean island of Aruba, will use a "violent emotion" defense in the slaying of Stephany Flores, attorney Maximo Altez told The Associated Press.
Altez said he filed papers three weeks ago informing prosecutors of his intent to argue that Van der Sloot became enraged and killed the 21-year-old Peruvian business student last May 30 because she had learned of his relation to Holloway by looking in his laptop.
The 23-year-old Dutchman is accused of first-degree murder, which carries a 15- to 35-year sentence on conviction.

An attorney for Holloway's mother, Beth Twitty, said she considered the planned plea "outrageous." Twitty knows the Flores family will never accept it and she plans to "make whatever noise she has to" to make sure it doesn't happen, the lawyer, John Kelly, added.
"He's a very slippery, smart criminal," Kelly said of Van der Sloot, adding that any suggestion he "flipped out for a moment" in killing Flores was mocked by the meticulous calculation of his attempt to cover up the crime and his escape.
Kelly also emphasized that even if Peruvian justice were to go easy on Van der Sloot he still faces prosecution in the United States on wire fraud and extortion charges.
An Alabama grand jury indicted the Dutchman in June for allegedly trying to extort $250,000 from Twitty in exchange for information on where she could find her daughter's body.

The laptop belonging to Joran Van der Sloot was turned off the night he is suspected of having killed a young Peruvian woman in Lima, suggesting he lied to investigators when he said he attacked her after she read an e-mail on his computer connecting him to missing American teenager, Natalee Holloway, a source said Friday.
