yeah, it's also affecting solving Jennifer Kesse's disappearance, among others, maresy, as you know. We need to shift money from enormously expensive and counterproductive prisons and guards and transportation of prisoners to cheap cells in the middle of nowhere.

No visitors, no mail, no guards to bribe, no congregating, no gangs, no nothing. Everything electronic, and we spend our money on enforcing laws and processing evidence to convict these bastards and put them there in their roomy but cheap cells in the desert for the duration.

Sorry to report that the body found in Reno is that of Brianna. We have yet another serial murderer to catch. It's a sick game to him, the end of life for Brianna, at 19 years.

Body found in Reno is missing student
Associated Press
February 16, 2008

RENO, Nev. - The body of a woman found in a field in Reno is that of a 19-year-old college student missing since she was abducted nearly a month ago, police said Saturday. She had been strangled.

The body of Brianna Denison was discovered Friday in a grown-over lot by a business park on the city's south side. The spot is about 8 miles from the house where she last was seen early Jan. 20 at the edge of the University of Nevada, Reno.

The results of an autopsy completed Saturday verified that the body was Denison's and that she died of strangulation, police told reporters at a news conference at police headquarters. Her body had been in the field for at least a week, police said.

Denison was abducted Jan. 20 by a suspected rapist linked by DNA to a string of attacks near the Reno campus, police said. A student at Santa Barbara City College in California, she was visiting her hometown over winter break and last was seen sleeping on a couch at a friend's rental house just off campus, north of Reno's downtown casino district.

Thanks for updating me on the sad news. I did not hear about it.

May she rest in peace and prayers to her family. We lost another young one again.

I wonder how many girls this guy has killed? Let's get him off the streets as soon as possible. There could be many he just raped and not killed too.

"I would say this is a serial rapist," Johns said at a news conference. "We have two, probably three (cases) linked through DNA."

"The totality of the information in this case leads us to believe it is a sexually motivated crime," he said. "I'm worried this guy is still out there, and I'm worried somebody else is going to get hurt."

DNA on Underwear Provides Clues to Denison Murder
Tuesday, February 19, 2008

Brianna Denison
RENO, Nev. — The DNA of an unknown woman was on a pair of thong underwear found with Brianna Denison's body along with the DNA of the serial rapist who kidnapped and strangled the 19-year-old college student, Reno police said Tuesday.

The black "Pink Panther" panties found with the body on Friday did not belong to Denison, police said.

Denison, a sophomore at Santa Barbara City College in California, was visiting her hometown over winter break when she was abducted Jan. 20 while she slept on a couch in a friend's home near the campus of the University of Nevada, Reno.

The male DNA found on the underwear was from the same man who committed at least two sexually motivated crimes against other young college women in the area over the past four months, Reno police Lt. Robert McDonald said.

Investigators are trying to determine whether the unknown DNA belonged to another woman who may have been assaulted, he said.

I really hope they find this guy soon. He is really hunting women down and raping and killing them. At least they have some DNA in the cases.
That should help with any convictions.

Reno Police: DNA Mixup Doesn't Change Serial Rapist Probe
Monday, March 03, 2008

RENO, Nev. — DNA on a pair of women's panties found with the body of Brianna Denison did not belong to the serial rapist suspected of killing her as was earlier reported but investigators remain convinced he's the one who left the underwear there, police said Monday.

Denison's body was found Feb. 15 in a field near a southwest Reno business park. Reno police first disclosed on Feb. 19 that the DNA of an unknown woman was on the pair of thong underwear along with the DNA of the serial rapist who kidnapped and strangled the 19-year-old college student.

But Reno Police Lt. Robert McDonald said Monday the DNA belongs to an unknown male and female. He provided little explanation of the mix-up other than "somebody was misinformed" previously.

Thanks for that link, goz. I wasn't aware they had a description of the serial murderer. From the link, here's who they're looking for. Let's hope they nail him soon.

Victims describe the assailant as a white male, 28 to 40 years old, square chin, brown hair, about 5-foot-6, strong but not muscular, a small pot belly and short beard.

The vehicle associated with him is a small truck with an extended cab, automatic transmission and front bucket style seats with velour upholstery. One witness also describes seeing a baby shoe lying on the floorboard in the front passenger side of the truck.

Police and family are asking for the public's help in bringing Brianna Denison's killer to justice.

(CNN) -- A former Marine and suspected serial rapist pleaded not guilty this week to raping and murdering 19-year-old college student Brianna Denison.

The family of Brianna Denison launched a Web site dedicated to her memory after her death in 2008.

James Biela, 27, is charged with first-degree murder, kidnapping and sexual assault in the disappearance of Denison, who was last seen alive on her friend's sofa in Reno, Nevada, January 20, 2008.

The construction worker entered his plea in Washoe County District Court on Wednesday. Judge Robert Perry set a tentative trial date for February 22, 2010, according to online court records.

Jury selection begins today for the case of Brianna Denison. It is possible that James Biela, the defendant, could receive the DP if convicted for Denison's murder. A change of venue was asked for but denied due to extensive coverage of the case.

Biela, 29, is already facing Nevada's death row for the 2008 murder of 19-year-old college student Brianna Denison.

"Not only were these people terrorized, but the community was terrorized," said District Judge Robert Perry during the 30-minute hearing.
