Hi, TJ. I see the skull was found near the landfill, which was RR's MO.
KCBD.com reports:
The Lubbock Sheriff's Office told KCBD NewsChannel 11 that they are hopeful that this discovery could solve one of two missing persons cases in Lubbock County.
"Of course, we're hopeful, anytime you have open cases and find evidence that could be linked to one of those cases you're hopeful that's what you have. The two cases that we have open right now are the Jennifer Wilkerson and Peggy Merimon cases," said Chief Deputy Cody Scott.
Peggy Merimon went missing on August 9th, 2006. Jennifer Wilkerson has been missing since July 13th of 2004. Back in August of 2006 Kay Harrelson's body was found just 12 miles from where the new remains were found. Harrelson and Merimon both worked at the Lubbock State School and went missing together.
Hopefully will be one of these two women and not yet another missing woman in Lubbock case. As you know, TJ, my opinion has always been that the serial murderer RR (I don't care to look up this disgusting creature's name) also victimized Jennifer Wilkerson and that she would be found in the landfill, only no one was ever going to look. Fortunately there apparently was too much scrutiny and security and the victim had to be left unburied, or very shallowly buried.
I will link in Joanna Roger's and Jennifer Wilkerson and other missing women in Lubbock thread for those looking for background on this.
Hopefully some closure for a family. Thanks TJ.

Thanks for the update. Let us hope this is one of the bodies for the sake of the family. Lubbock seems to have many missing bodies so let us pray it is not another victim of this monster.

The remains were identified as one of the two missing women mentioned, Peggy Merimon. Her murderer has already been convicted along with murder of Kay Harrelson. This brings closure to a family and friends, though.
May Peggy and Kay rest in peace.
Hopefully Jennifer was not buried in the Lubbock landfill like Joanna and the others and may be found someday as well.

He hasn't been convicted yet. His trial was to start on June 1, but has been postponed until any possible evidence discovered has been examined. The DA in Lubbock has a reputation for being pretty certain of his case before proceeding with murder cases. He seemed confident enough to warrant extraditing the suspect from Oregon and filing charges, so I suspect it won't be long before he is convicted.
