It really is hard to take all these murders. I keep hoping that it's just so obvious that silent ex's are making women that have become inconvenient to them disappear that everyone would know they did it as soon as the woman disappears.

The sad part is, everyone does know, but these ex's are staging disappearances like they've had twenty or thirty years of training watching murders enacted and solved on tv.

Come to think of it, they have. We have the best trained murderers in the world. What a time to be a silent ex.

Restraining orders and all.

This situation reminds me of the dowry murders in India, where wives keep dying in 'accidents' with their kerosene stoves when their families are unable to continue dowry payments (which are supposed to be over before the marriage takes place, but some husbands get greedy).

I have to agree with you on the silent ex-theory RD.

It appears that restraining orders are proving to be useless too. They always (the ex's, bfs, & husbands) find a way around them.

Lauderdale police have a heck of a murder investigation to do now. No details being reported. We know what they have to try to find. We've been through this so many times with so many other missing women and silent ex's.

Restraining orders are no good unless both parties are monitored during the restraining order. Given our reluctance to invade the privacy of violent men, we apparently have decided that we'll just live with it.

Or at least most of us will.

The family is saying that the Ft. Lauderdale police are essentially saying they believe Josephine accidentally drowned in the surf. They are devastated and asking for the state law enforcement to step in to investigate.

Personally, the police are probably trying to fool the silent ex into believing that too. And maybe waiting for him to make a mistake.

Only there's not much of a mistake he can make at this point. He would have had to had made the mistake that morning, and they had a limited amount of time to find it, by investigating hard and talking to lots of people.

When you talk to lots of people and make a public plea for info, the public and family knows they are investigating a murder.

This family knows they are not.

Some new details in this article. Josephine was to meet her lawyer at 10 that morning. Hello. She walks her son to the bus stop 8ish or so, is to be at her lawyers at 10, and went for a swim in the ocean? Sheesh, what kind of freaking idiot would believe that?

Also, details about the state of her apartment that clearly indicates she was interrupted and someone rummaged around for that bathing suit she was found in.

A half written note to school, drawers pulled out, some other disarray. Very disturbing that the police would even let the family think they didn't jump on this murder investigation.

Even more disturbing that they didn't.

Family Wants FDLE To Investigate Mother's Death
CBS4.com
September 16, 2008

MIAMI (CBS4) ― The family of a South Florida woman found dead in the Atlantic Ocean believes she was murdered, but the Ft. Lauderdale Police department says her death appears accidental. CBS 4's Carey Codd sat down with the emotional family Monday night.

It's been nearly four weeks since Josephine Frenna died, and her family remains devastated. This is some of the information Frenna's family plans to send to Governor Charlie Crist: Josephine Frenna lived her final days in fear. She filed a restraining order against her husband just days before she died. Frenna told a judge her husband tried to throw her off a balcony. Frenna's family believes it is not coincidence that Frenna's body was found floating off Port St. Lucie on August 24th, the day before her restraining order hearing.

The family wants the Governor to ask the Florida Department of Law Enforcement to step in and oversee this case.

"She was scared..she was feared for her life...her and her son," said her nephew Peter Vizzi.

Vizzi and family say police believe Frenna went swimming the morning she disappeared from her Ft. Lauderdale condo. After dropping her son at the school bus around 8:30 a.m., police say it appears Frenna went for a dip.

But the family says Frenna was afraid of the water and planned to meet with her attorney at 10 a.m., leaving little time for a swim.

"How could it be an accident, a lady that never swam her whole life on a rainy day she's gonna go swimming?" asked Vizzi.

The family says Frenna kept a spotless home, yet left drawers open, clothes out, and a school note for her son half written. The family also says Frenna spoke with her mother the morning she disappeared and never mentioned swimming.

(snip)

Ft. Lauderdale police tell us they are still awaiting toxicology reports, but we were told there is no evidence supporting a homicide case. Police say at this point Frenna's death was an accident.

Frenna's sisters can barely cease crying. They want an outside police agency to step in and make sure no clues are being overlooked.

"It seems like the Ft. Lauderdale police department is busy with other cases," said Stabile. "To us, to the family, this is very important."
