Clearly Monique Trepp was intended to disappear. But decomposing in your hotel room in the meantime? No problem.

Men are getting making women disappear down to a science.

Police Find Woman's Body on Ice in California Hotel Room
Associated Press
March 08, 2008

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. — Police discovered the body of a woman packed in a large container with dry ice in a hotel room as they were serving a search warrant in a cocaine investigation, authorities said.

Detectives found the fully clothed and "well preserved" body late Thursday after arresting a guest at the Fairmont Newport Beach for investigation of selling and possessing cocaine on the hotel grounds, police Sgt. Evan Sailor said Friday.

When they searched Stephen David Royds' room, they found the body inside a Rubbermaid container filled with dry ice, he said.

"It's definitely weird," Sailor said.

An autopsy of the body was "inconclusive" because there was no sign of trauma, and her death did not appear to be a homicide, said Dan Akin, an Orange County supervising deputy coroner.

Police identified the woman as 33-year-old Monique Trepp. It wasn't clear how long she had been dead, Sailor said.

Police were investigating whether Royds was involved in the death. He was held on $30,000 bail.

Royds, 46, told police he was a resident of Newport Beach, but there was no telephone listing for him. A receptionist at the hotel, a posh complex surrounded by palms, referred inquiries to company spokeswoman Michelle Heston.

Report: Woman Found Dead In OC Hotel Was Wanted On Drug Charges
Trepp, 33, Wanted In Colorado On Drug Dealing Charges

POSTED: 10:08 am PDT March 9, 2008
UPDATED: 10:54 am PDT March 9, 2008

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. -- The 33-year-old woman found dead and packed in dry ice in a luxury Newport Beach hotel room rented by a suspected cocaine dealer was wanted in Colorado on drug charges, the Orange County Register reported Sunday.

Monique Felicia Trepp, whose last known address was on 14th Street in Huntington Beach, was wanted on charges contained in several warrants, the newspaper reported.

Attorney Mark S. Rubinstein, who represented her on charges of possession of drugs for sale in Colorado in 2005, told the newspaper he remembered her being with "a much-older man," who posted her bail. Afterward, she left town, he said.

Rubinstein said he could not remember what kind of drugs she was charged with selling, but that the volume was significant.

"We usually don't see this kind of quantity" in the sparsely populated areas west of Denver, he told the Register.

Police found Trepp's body in large plastic container in room 966 at the Fairmont Hotel Thursday night after arresting Stephen David Royds, 46, on the grounds of the four-star property.

According to police, he used the alias Mel Profitttt -- virtually the same name of a manic-depressive drug kingpin in the 1987 season of television's "Wiseguy."

Royds was initially taken to Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian for "some medical condition," Newport Beach police Sgt. Jerry Lowe said. He was booked into Orange County Jail in Santa Ana Saturday and denied bail because of a suspected probation violation.

Royds is set to be arraigned on a charge of possessing cocaine for sale on Monday. So far, he has not been charged in Trepp's death.

Coroner's investigators have said that no evidence found during the gross autopsy suggested homicide, but no cause of death has been established, pending the results of toxicology tests, which could take several weeks.

In 2002, Royds pleaded guilty in Orange County Superior Court to five felonies -- four drug-related charges and possession of a forged driver's license, the Register reported citing court records.

The "Wiseguy" character Mel Profitt, played by Kevin Spacey, was a mad genius involved in international drug and weapons sales.

Police have not said how long Royds had been staying at the hotel or how long Trepp may have been dead.

Real original.

Monique was playing with the big dogs, and the grass was too high.

I can't believe he put the body on ice in a hotel room. YES, they are getting rid of women like it's an art form lately. It is so very sad.

Very strange, and as you said, "so original!"

I think she was playing out of her league with these drug kingpins and lost her life.

Goz
It appears they all think this is one big JOKE Rd....(getting rid of women)
