Murderers remove the heads and hands of women before dumping the bodies to make it difficult to identify the body if and when found. This is yet another such murder, and another missing woman.
We don't put up enough cheap jail cells in the middle of nowhere to hold the thousands upon thousands of violent felons that need to be put in them for the duration of their sentences, so we have murders like this day after day.
How many people have to have have someone close to them die before we start getting serious about getting these predators off the streets?

Headless Body Discovered in DeSoto County, MS

February 15, 2008
DeSoto County, MS - A state road crew discovered the naked, headless body of a woman around 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 14, 2008 next to the Coldwater River bridge on Highway 78 about 10 miles outside Memphis, Tennessee.
Commander Mark Blackson with the Desoto County Sheriff's Department says the victim is an African-American woman believed to be in her late 20's or early 30's. Blackson says her hands and feet were also severed.
"It obviously indicates," says Blackson, "that whoever did this doesn't want that person to be identified."
Investigators say the victim had cuts all over her body which appeared to have been inflicted after she died. They say she's been dead for less than a week.
The Desoto County Search and Rescue Team was brought in to use dogs to sniff for more clues on land and divers to search the river for any possible evidence.
Commander Blackson says the victim was never in the water and that she was likely dumped in the spot.
Her body will be sent to the medical examiner's office in Jackson, Mississippi. Investigators will have to rely on DNA since dental records and fingerprints can't be used in this case.
"It definitely makes it more difficult," says Blackson. "You can't look at their face or have finger prints. But it's like any investigation like this, it's like a puzzle. We just have more pieces of the puzzle missing, that's all."
This is the third death investigation for the Desoto County Sheriff's Department in the last seven weeks. That's a lot for a department that normally only handles about 3 murders a year. None of this year's homicides have been solved.

Girl, 12, Says She Watched Dad Mutilate Mom, Was Forced to Help Dump Body
Fox News
February 19, 2008
A 12-year-old girl told police her father, James Hawkins, forced her to help dump her mother's body in DeSoto County in Tennessee. Hawkins is charged with killing and dismembering Charlene Gaither, MyFOXMemphis reports.
Hawkins' daughter also told investigators that she witnessed her father killing her mother. A police affidavit says the girl, whose name was not released, claimed she "watched dad kill mom."
Memphis police say Gaither's body was found decapitated and dismembered in northern Mississippi.
James Hawkins was first charged Monday morning with abuse of a corpse, tampering with evidence and filing a false report. Later on Monday police said they were charging him with first-degree murder.
The woman was identified Monday as Charlene Gaither of Memphis. Her body, without a head, hands or feet, was found Thursday in DeSoto County.

What a horrible murder for the daughter to witness and you are right, she is lucky to be alive.
Thanks for the update.
Nice to know that charges have been filed in this case and an arrest made.
