I thought art's answers sounded a lot like those of other Condit supporters. I guess it is all right to support someone, if it can be done by legitimate arguments, but the Condit arguments usually do not seem to be legitimate.

I sometimes wonder if perhaps someone closely related to the investigation might not get on some of these missing person forums to try to disrupt them. Some of the Howler arguments resemble very much arguments by other Condit supporters.

I don't understand newspapers though saying that they thought there was no id rule, that Martin made it up. Also the Thomas story was destroyed as soon as possible. There may be some mysterious forces at work here, which may have had some influence in getting Chandra dismissed from the Bureau of Prisons.

I had a name or two I was going to look up, but now I will have to find them again.

What also interests me is that some newspapers can come out and investigate some corruption in government, take a stand against some high ranking individuals who have made some mistakes, but I don't see anyone trying to investigate all of the problems with the Chandra Levy investigation. Except us.

well, quite frankly benn, Bob Levy told Stone Phillips that Chandra told them she was to carry no id. So the newspapers must call Bob Levy a liar and must call Anne Marie Smith a liar about Luray or else give this information legitimate coverage. They seem only too happy to dismiss any information since the police dismissed it.

What should be covered is why the police dismissed not only this information but also Linda Zamsky as well. The police essentially treat everyones' information as inconveniently forcing them to go where they don't want to go.

So what can we do? Something that makes sense?

benn, I think the letters you've been writing and the research we're doing is all anybody can ask. The Levy's have a lawyer, they have investigators, the FBI publically stated just a couple of months ago that they're looking for leads. They're all plugging away, so we'll keep posting away and making sense of this mystery and be here for those who still are interested in what happened to Chandra. I'll post the results of my work when I'm done and that will be something more substantial to send out then, I think.

Sounds good rd. There are a few addresses I would like to get, or maybe just one or two or them. What is the best way to get them, PM? Of course I don't know if anyone has them.

All you can do is post and see if anybody can help come up with an address. There's some pretty sharp people that post here. :)

benn wrote, "jane, I am thinking that all the tapes would have shown was when she left the building, if she did not go out the back way. I suppose there were tapes in the back also."

The investigators learned that it was easy to enter the Newport unnoticed, despite the presence of security cameras. No one has a key for the front entrance; even tenants must be buzzed in by security personnel. However, the keys Chandra had carried would have granted access through a rear-alley gate and then a back door into the building where the elevator is just a few feet away.

"You can come in that way, and unless the guard is actually staring at the video screen monitoring that entrance, you'll go unnoticed," said a resident."
(Sex, Power & Murder, pp. 184-185)

Just to confirm that there is a video monitor for the Newport rear entrance.

which would have been on tape along with the lobby monitor had they been saved. Thanks for the confirmation, jane.
